“The Time I Embarrassed My Family The time I embarrassed my family was when I was sent to jail. I stole thousands of cars, robbed hundreds of banks, and mur- dered almost everyone I saw on a trip around the world. I started with fifteen cents from Sabattus. I took the bus to Lewiston and stole two cars and a truck to go to Portland. I ate in a restaurant and got out without paying. On my way to Boston I had to kill three policemen. I stole a giant elec- trified metal man from an experiment station After that all th police had to do was follow wreck d Cltl'S I got to New York and stole the biggest boat I could find by paying three million dollars to some gangster I traveled to London where I stay d as a begg r until my electrified giant could be ship ped and him over on three ships One of the ships was loaded too much it sank All I had was the body and thr e arms I sold for scrap metal I went back to th United States where police caught me and sent m to Jail for begging in the str t Was I luckyl If anyone wants to know how I embarrassed my family, it was because I dreamed all this and wh n I woke up screaming and all the n ighbors came running in to s what the matter was my family was very much embarrassed. Th New Iron Horse It wa a warm Spring day in early April Martha and Jake Allen were t aiing a ound the farm, Martha gett ng th house cleaning done and Jake trying to plow FV rything was going along fin until the mailman l ft a letter from Tom All n at th Allen farm. Martha got th letter from the box and opened it UDear Mom and Dad, I'm coming home for a vacation and I have a big sur prise for Dad' birthday Martha forgot all about her house cleaning ard ran out to tell Jake the good news 'Oh yeau Jake said, 'A big surpri e I suppose he is coming hom with som new fangl d ideas to farm with Last year he insisted on throwing a lot of stuff on the back field, said lt wa lime and would sweet blasted colleg teachers som h lp with this here how to hold a plow.
