Each year if is inv privilege to greet our student) through Hum page in the Cardinai I wish if irere possible t capture] even for ■ moment] the intangible essence of our college life which one who reads between the lines may find in this, our 1948 yearbook. In its memories of years that arc past, in its hopes for an ever greater future for our college, there are mirrored the courage, the lovaltv, the ever-gentle humor and the vision of voting American- who have dedicated themselves that this nation mav become a hetter place for our people to live in and a blessing to all peoples everywhere. Through the pictures and the text of our annual one will come to know Americans who, in spite of world fear and chaos, have faith gnat enough in their fellow men to helieve that their Country ' s destinv can win the gratitude of all mankind. These Americans are teachers who believe this faith can become reality. These are some of the Americans to whom 140,000.000 of their fellow citizens will intrust their most cherished possession — the children of our nation. In the lines and between the lines of our 1948 CaUIXAL there is the evidence of what we are as a college and of what we hope to hecomr. It is with this thought that I express to the class of ' 49, to the editors and contributors, and to all of those who have helped in the preparation and publication of our yearbook, the appreciation of all of us for a task well done!
