1948 THE JUNIOR CLASS - £?d ' ltol5 JOAN M. HESS ROBERT P. FORTIER £uiine5l Ma.na.jei ANN BUCCI Life is a star in vol u men three. The Part, the Present, and Yet-to-Be. The prut is finished and Iniil aicay. The second zee ore rending day by day. The third and Inst of the volumes three Is locked from tight— God keeps the hey. Hut because Hi ' lends this kev to those who arc wise enough to use il because for them TODAY builds TOMORROW and the future is what the make it, and because that kind of TODAY is the theme of our pictured storj Therefore our CARDINAL is dedicated to YOU who make TIME PRESENT architect of TIME FUTURE. Out fflte ident DR. CHARLES C. WARD FOUR Each year if is inv privilege to greet our student) through Hum page in the Cardinai I wish if irere possible t capture] even for ■ moment] the intangible essence of our college life which one who reads between the lines may find in this, our 1948 yearbook. In its memories of years that arc past, in its hopes for an ever greater future for our college, there are mirrored the courage, the lovaltv, the ever-gentle humor and the vision of voting American- who have dedicated themselves that this nation mav become a hetter place for our people to live in and a blessing to all peoples everywhere. Through the pictures and the text of our annual one will come to know Americans who, in spite of world fear and chaos, have faith gnat enough in their fellow men to helieve that their Country ' s destinv can win the gratitude of all mankind. These Americans are teachers who believe this faith can become reality. These are some of the Americans to whom 140,000.000 of their fellow citizens will intrust their most cherished possession — the children of our nation. In the lines and between the lines of our 1948 CaUIXAL there is the evidence of what we are as a college and of what we hope to hecomr. It is with this thought that I express to the class of ' 49, to the editors and contributors, and to all of those who have helped in the preparation and publication of our yearbook, the appreciation of all of us for a task well done! Chables ( ' . W.Mtli. FIVE MR. CHARLES T. SMITH The junior class is proud to express its gratitude to Mr. Charles Smith, our faculty adviser. He lias given willingly of his time, interest and advice, to help our class function and exist. He has inspired and guided us — he has given us much success and happi- ness; for this, and for all the main - wnvs in which he has made us aware of our responsibilities and abilities, we, of the junior class, would like to say thanks. SIX Berniee Keissmaii was our classmate and companion, and she still is. The memory of enjoyed companionship, once fully possessed, cannot dir. We remember her laughter and her likablenesa .... we remember her in many different ways . . . hut we di not know how to put the memory into words. Do we have to? V ft. U«« i£ 5ShrC ! We think the future holds even greater promise. This year lias Been two of our visions become actualities — the new Rome Manage- ment House — the opening of Conway Hall. P. S. T. C. has three more dreams which are rapidly developing into realities. Blue- prints are already drawn up for the new Home Kconomics building to be erected on the campus. Plans are in the making for the women ' s dormitory on the Conway proper- ty. And, of interest to P. S. T. C. ' s sportsmen, Twin Valleys will soon have a ski lodge suitable for many activities. The foundations of the Past — The efforts of the Present — The dreams of the Future — These constitute our heritage.
