X - . - SWIMMING Splashing their way to the best season in the school's history, the 1964-65 swimming team, under the direction of Coach Dick, found its long sought-after standing performances by members of the team over- shadowed the overall team record. Nine of the eleven school records and two school records fell to the men of Oswego. The pool records, set by Norm Harvey in the breast stroke and Doug Endicott in diving, set the pace for the performances by Tom Weil and Joe Rotolo in the freestyle and John Marshall in the back stroke. The highlight of the season was the 57-38 victory over Plattsburg in the final meet of the year. This avenged last year's 47-48 defeat. Next year's outlook is bright as the entire team shall be back, although Joe Rotolo will graduate next January.

The powerful wrestling machine compiled an eleven-win and one-loss record losing only to the N.A.l.A. champion, Lock Haven State. During the year Oswego amassed a total of 316 team points to its op- ponents ninety, while scoring eighty wins, twenty-one losses and five draws in the individual matches. This year's team set a number of records, one being a thirty- nine to three victory over Plattsburgh, the most points scored by the team against an opponent. This was also the first time an Oswego team had beaten Cortland State and Itha- ca College, the latter being Coach Howard's Alma lVlater. There were also several new individual records. Bob Williams set a new quick pin record in pinning Richard Revelen of Brockport in thirty-nine seconds. Dick Baldwin set a new point-scoring rec- ord in defeating Jim Beck of University of Rochester with a score of twenty-two to nine. Tom Gustainis led the team in in- dividual-point scoring with forty-one points, a result of five pins, four decisions and two draws. The Grapplers also successfully defended their State Univer- sity Championship title at Brockport by burying the opposition with 107 points to Cortland's 69, Oneonta's 50, Brockport's 45, Plattsburgh's 20 and Potsdam's 16. The Lakers won cham- pionships at 123 lbs. - Frank Frisicano, 130 lbs. - Harry Fur- rer, 137 lbs. - Brian Jones, 147 lbs. - Dick Shiel, 157 lbs. - Bob Williams, 167 lbs. - Tom Gustainis, 177 lbs. - Terry Ryan. Harry Furrer be- came a three-time winner of the tournament while Brian Jones, Dick Shiel, Bob Williams, and Tom Gustainis all claimed two-time championships. Captain Harry Furrer completed a most outstanding wres- tling career going undefeated for the fourth consecutive year and compiling an unbelievable forty-four-win- no-loss record. This is the first time such a feat has been accomplished at Oswego and represents a most outstanding Ewhievement. Fur- rer, Jones, who completed the season with an undefeated rec- ord of six-wins no losses, and Williams are competing in the N.C.A.A.
