CHGRALAIRES Choralaires is a vocal group composed of approximately one-hundred women students. Each semester a concert is performed and in the past, trips have been arranged to various parts of the state for concert engagements. The pri- mary purpose of Choralaires is to provide an opportunity for interested women to participate in enjoyable choral singing. 97

Chapman One of the busiest performing groups on campus, the Statesmen, per- forms with the Glee Club at regular functions and accepts jobs on and off campus from service clubs, church or- ganizations, and other college groups. For the past several years they've also performed at Winter Weekend. Their repertoire consists mainly of up-to-date arrangements of popular sings and better-known folk and humorous tunes. The addition of nine girls makes up the Statesmen Take Nine. They feature solo and ensemble excerpts from well- known Broadway musicals. SYIVIPHONIC BAND The College Symphonic Band is open to all students on campus who wish to continue participation in band experi- ences. A high school background in performance is usually the prerequisite for joining. At Oswego this one organiza- tion fulfills all band services to the college. Home soccer games, parent and alumni weekend parades, and home basketball game performances fall within the band's con- tributions to school service. Coupled with these activities is participation in local community events of a patriotic na- ture. The major musical event of the year is the annual spring concert. ln the past the band has given assembly concerts in local area high schools. P Stoner - Drum Major. 98
