Dedication [Dr. Netzer became President of Oneonta State Uni¬ versity C()llef e on February 1, 1951 succeeding Dr. Charles Uunt, who had been President since 1933. A native of Crookston, Minnesota, his educational background includes undergraduate degrees from the State Teachers College, Flemidji, Minnesota and the University of North Dakota, and both his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Iowa. lie began a 43 year career in education as a junior high school teacher in Theif River Falls, Minnesota, was a teacher-principal in an Iowa City Pilementary School and for two years a Research Assistant at the University of Iowa. From 1937-39 Dr. Netzer was an Associate Professor of Education at the Teachers College in Tem[)e, Arizona and in 1939 went to Ceneseo Stat(3 Teachers College as Director of Education, a position he held until 1949 when he became Dean of the College. Two years later he was selected as President of the then State University Teachers College at Oneonta. During his 19Vz years as President, the college grew from 700 students to 4500, and saw 30 buildings con¬ structed which include the entire upper campus com¬ plex excluding Morris Hall. Dr. and Mrs. Netzer, noting that they have lived in Oneonta longer than anywhere else, plan to remain in Oneonta. Dr. Netzer has been very active in com¬ munity activities. We salute you and thank you for spending your time with us. We can only hope we may find someone who is close to your caliber as a leader, educator and person. 26
