Editor-in-Chief A E JEAN FILKINS Bufinen Manager The 'Four Freedoms' were the first in a series of declarations of war aims which found fuller expression in the Atlantic Charter and were later formally accepted, in the United Nations' Declaration of January 1, 1942, by all the countries fighting the Axis powers. The Four Freedoms were incorporated in the opening address of President Franklin D. Roosevelt to the Seventy-seventh Congress on January 6, 1941. The1944 Oi-l'i-lA'DAli'I lbresefzted by THE STUDENTS of STATE TEACHERS COLLEGE GENESEO, N. Y. freedom of speech and expression eoefgwollere in the world. The 1944 Oh-Ha-Daih attempts to show how each of our activities here at Geneseo fits into the category of one of the Four Freedoms. Freedom of Speech includes those persons and organizations which aid us in formulating and expressing our ideas clearly and concisely so that others may derive beneff from them. Freedom from Fear pertains to those organizations which build up I freedom from fear- . . . QsoD that no nation will be in iz position to commit an act of physical aggression against any neighbor- argfwloere in the world. f ' , within the student a feeling of confidence both in the physical and social sense. Freedom of Religion refers, as its title suggests, to the Churches and organizations on campus which contribute to our spiritual well-being. Freedom from Want incor- porates those activities which further educational opportunities and, therefore, the professional growth of the future teacher. freedom of every person to worship God in his own may everywhere in the world. ' ' freedom from wemt, . . . which will secure to every nation zz healthy peacetime life for its inhahitmzts evefjfwhere in the world. Hardy, homespun farmers fi h ' , g ting for freedom at Concord and Lexington, laid the foundations of our glorious heritage. Once again, blood is being shed to preserve American ideals. To these Ameri- cans, we owe a debt, which can only be paid in love and service. Whatever we, as American youth, can do to make ourselves worthy of such a heritage, we will do. We value both the privileges and responsibilities that are ours. Therefore, with pride, we dedicate the 1944 OH-HA-DAIH to the Ameri- can Way of Life and to those who are fighting so valiantly to preserve our cherished heritage. . . ge is ff f-rf fr d 2-EAS -' if in s f .'- '-x , - TTI' :Q sf, ,' zwgf ' .5 - 1 ' L.: fm! . 1 .5 ' 1' E..
