My highly skilled faculty w°rk closciy with their students in an effort to prepare them for the highly competitive field of business. 89 90 Food Service Administration Without question the most aromatic labs on campus are in the Food Service Division where my faculty delves into such complexities as the proper temperature at which to serve an egg and which wine goes best with broiled moose. Drop by their lab sometime. You’ll see students enjoying themselves and learning a great deal . . . and it smells good too. 91 92 Nursery Education It there is an especially large smile on the flues of the Nursery Education faculty this spring, it is because they are so proud of their new facilities on campus. After spending many years in a converted warehouse and calling it an annex, it is understandable why they are so glad to join the rest of us on the Hill. 93 94 General Education Division My General lulucation faculty work to stretch the minds, imaginations and experiences of a student body that is primarily oriented to technical education. By encouraging students to reach beyond their previous limitations, this group of faculty stimulate a valuable movement into vast new areas of endeavor. 95 96 97 98 The Library Sooner or Liter, most of my students v‘sit the library. It’s overcrowded and not °pcn long enough, hut it’s often the only place to study when the residence halls are going full throttle. The staff is friendly and cager to be of help, so you should probably go more often. 99 Uy students special os cMeqtonS. ACO WtfOll BLOUI1 As evidence that cop-quality performance in the classroom is deserving of recognition, we acknowledge the skill and enthusiasm of pr0fess0r J0hll Lohret of the Business Division. To take a subject such as Accounting and present it with the patience and smoothness 194 that Mr. lohret exhibits is a rare talent indeed. The busiest bchind-thc-sccnc” man on campus is our own President Walton Brown. Doing battle daily against the red tape inherent in today’s complex multi-vcrsity, Dr. Brown works to keep the campus at Cobleskill as autonomous as possible within the octopus we call State University of New York. Good teaching seems to run in certain families. Duplicating the excellence recognized last year in hiswifc• Coach Stanley Nevins holds the regard of all who know him. A fine physical education instructor, a fair and driving coach, and a warm humanitarian, Mr. Nevins is a gentleman to admire. We are pleased to recognize the many contributions made by this dedicated athlete and teacher. 196 The applications pile high in the Animal Husbandry Department since Professor Donald Burton brought the Horse Science program to campus. We arc one of the few two-year institutions in the country offering this unusual program, and much of the credit goes to this hard-working easy-going faculty member. Noted as a superb teacher and a fine gentleman, Mr. Burton’s influence is an integral part of the education of the Horse Science students. 19; Perpetuation of the memory of a friend was the contribution of Barbara Schafer as she created the Helen Minorsky Scholarship Fund in honor of a deceased friend. No service could better testify to the character of this pace-setting Coblcskill coed. Active in her Dorm Council and her Animal Husbandry courses, she represents everything that is good about Coblcskill. 198 A girl-on-the-go is Jean Bart[eU This active Nursery Education major has created a whirlwind of excitement as she serves the College through Orange Key, her Dorm Council, Phi Theta Kappa, and as a Residence Assistant. All of this is accompanied by a warm smile and rich personality, making her Goby’s most pleasant dynamo. 19 STEPPEHWOLF I Al So Dl AND I' l$ -----. . - mm | $111 CttMSUl BMCI mu 99 T SB9KBR ■ V5 . ; t mmmm It isn’t often that an entire group warrants collective recognition, but this year is an exception as we salute the College UlUOIl Board. In an era when organized activities arc struggling to survive on most campuses, the 1971 CUB was alive and well and brought a sparkling array of cultural and social events to campus and brightened all of our hours. Coblcskill’s high hurdle track record is tucked neatly into the pocket of the some-times bearded £)ick FrericllS. A constant hustler, whether on the track, the basketball court, or in a conversation, Dick has a warm personality and a positive outlook on life that make him a paccsctting figure on the Coblcskill scene. 201 A sense of humor, a flashing eye and a deep sense of commitment are the tools of the trade for Professor Howson Hartley of the General Education faculty. History comes alive and American Government breathes anew' when analyzed through the interpretive skills of Mr. Hartley. Through the efforts of Mr. Hartley, a number of topical political speakers have been brought to the campus to add to our appreciation and understanding of the American political system. Thank you, Mr. Hartley. 202 The biggest smile and the nicest voice in the Special Services Building belong to our Public Relations Director, Mrs. Jean Williams. From the office of Mrs. Williams flows a stream of information that keeps the public informed about all that is happening at Cobleskill. For keeping us looking good in the public eye, we express our appreciation to this dedicated lady. 203 EDITOR'S PAGE As the College has spoken to us through this edition of the VOICE, it is now time for us to be heard. As we enter into today's fluid and turbulent society, may each of us be heard in a manner that is effective and beneficial to society. It is easy to degrade and criticize. It is more difficult to contribute and build. The College has shown us how to aid in the development of a better tomorrow. Therefore I challenge each of you to assume responsibility as an architect of Tomorrow . . . building our world for the betterment of all. f$BERT T.
