JEAN E. RAGAN, Production Editor BONNIE E. GAGNE Editor-In-Chief LARRY R. BENTON, Secretary-Treasurer WILTSIE H. FINCH, Photographer FRANCIS E. BASILE, Managing Editor State University of New York at Cobleskill DAVID A. MIRON, Sports Editor DEAN ALBERT IORIO Dedication He was born and raised in our home state in a town called Medina. He was an active participant in varsity sports in high school: basketball, baseball, and football. He already had the beginnings of a successful career. And so he came .... College was an important goal in his life and Hobart was the institution which presented him with his B.A. degree. However, academics was not his only interest, for sports still were an important part of his life in the form of basketball, lacrosse, and football. The year 1938 was an extremely important one in that this was the first undefeated and untied team in lacrosse at Hobart. Besides being chosen captain of the team, he was selected as All-American Lacrosse Center. His ambition did not end at Hobart, though, but continued at Albany where he received his Masters Degree. And so he came .... Once out of college, he taught at Dwight School in New York City in the field of Social Studies and coached both baseball and basketball. Lacrosse was a part of his life, and at Lehigh University he became head Lacrosse coach. The Naval Reserve asked him to serve in the Asiatic-Pacific-Philippine Theater of War and he did so for 46 months. Sampson College saw him as an instructor in Physical Education and head Lacrosse coach. And so he came .... A new instructor was added in Physical Education in the summer of 1949 at Cobleskill. 1957 was the year that he became Institute Associate Dean of Students,- and from 1960 to the present he has been the Dean of Students. This is our dedication to a man who has had varied experiences in the post and the ambition to be a success, and so he came . . . The college on the hill is grateful to him for his many contributions and his devotion to the student body. We salute the man who came .... Not only has ALP grown in size this year, but also in activities, including sponsoring a Korean orphan, thanksgiving gifts for the needy, the Leukemia Fund Drive and trips to the hospital. It has grown in sisterhood since it has become centralized at Highland House and has learned that teamwork leads to a deeper understanding and interest in the student body. In the spirit of this warmth, we went to wish the very best to each graduate; we hope that we, as a sorority, have left a shred of fun cr a bit of our ideals in the memory of each graduating senior. We came: to a new campus, a new v orld, a new v ay of life. We came: no longer all-know:ng, but timid, uncertain, and still willing to give it an honest attempt. We saw: ci village and the entire East Coast turn suddenly black. We saw: mud and more mud accumulate during the Cobleskill monsoons. We sow: January grades take their toll and everyone resolving to do better next semester. We saw: Winter Weekend n all its glory—the dinosaur which lasted unti spring. We saw.- an old President leave and a new one begin. We saw: the uncertain ones of September become the leaders of May. We saw: life taken av ay from a friend—a shock and ci tragedy. We conquered: leaders reedy to help the arrivals of September. We conquered: a winning season in Cobleskill sports. We conquered: a Christmas season no one could forget. We conqureed: those January finds! We. conquered: Senior slump in Spring. We have undergone a change that has mode us older and hojxdully wiser, one that has made us aware of oil the wealth life con give. As we .ook back on our years a Cobleskill, wc shall remember ‘he exhilarating with the disappointing, the success with the disaster, the friends we shall never forget. But most of all we shall remember the fricndlness of the campus and the interest shown so that v e may achieve what we desire. This may mean many things to each graduate and we sincerely hope that each senior achieves whatever goal he strives for.
