-A O r r r Ct $ Foreword This year has seen the joining together of the past and present students of Cobleskill to honor their Alma Mater on its 50th anniversary. We, the students of the fiftieth year of instruction at Cobleskill, wish to dedicate this book to each person who has done his part in making Cobleskill a college, not a group of empty buildings. A college is only what its students, faculty, and administration make it. Without individual contributions, an athletic team will lose, a service club will be unsuccessful, and a classroom lecture will achieve nothing. It is our privilege to honor each individual who has done his part in making Cobleskill’s first fifty years a success. 2 Contents Administration Seniors Juniors Organizations Sports 3 Administration and Faculty kibitzing. MR. ROGER BECKER Cobleskill, N.Y. MR. KENNETH DcKAY Esjxrancc, N.Y. MR. ROBERT ECKER Chairman, Cobleskill, N.Y. MRS. J. ROBERT JOHNSON Middleburg, N.Y. Qrf er members of the council are: MRS. College Council The College Council is composed of outstanding members of the Community who are appointed by the Governor. Their responsibilities include the selection of the President of the college, proposals for new curriculums, general supervision of college property, provision for student housing, establishment of regulations regarding student conduct, and the general welfare of the college. We appreciate the time and effort that each member of the Council devotes to these numerous duties for the benefit of the college and student body. 8 President Edward J. Sabol By the time you have received this Yearbook and arc reading my message, graduation will lie in sight, only a few weeks or perhaps only a few days away. Most of your college career at Coblcskill will be a memory—and a pleasant one if we can judge by the words of returning graduates of earlier years. Your recollection of college will be marked by memories of orientation week, lines, IBM cards, lectures, advice of all kinds (from both faculty and students), mid-term warnings, final exams, grade reports, and many other things too numerous to mention. Your particular Freshman year was marked by the water holiday and your Senior year by mountains of mud. And yet during your time here more new facilities will have-been completed than during the entire prior history of the College. Your Senior year is the 50th year of instruction at Coblcskill and yours will be the largest graduating class ever! Most of the things listed above are campus events which have touched all of us. In addition, I am sure you have those special memories of experiences shared with a few close friends. Then there arc those inner thoughts about your college life which are meaningful to you alone ami which you need share only as you wish. I hope that you will treasure all of these memories and value them as your mental picture of the happiest, most eventful years of your life. Those of us who have helped make them that way join together in wishing you continued success as your chosen career unfolds, and wise and joyous choice of out- of-work activities and companions. Above all, come back on Alumni Day and any other time you can. . 9 CHARLES GAFFNEY Dean of Adminislra-tion; B.S., M.S., Cornell Univ. DR. EDWARD F. Senior Class Message We, the class of I%6, wish to extend our sincere appreciation to our advisers, class officers, fellow students and to ,all the faculty members who have helped make our stay at Cobleskill an everlasting experience. We offer special thanks to our Senior Class Advisers, Miss Barbara Hodge and Dr. Norman Curtis. Under their able guidance, we have gained much of the maturity, understanding, and independence necessary to take our place in society. Upon departing, we can only say that it is our fondest hope that in some small way we have helped to improve Cobleskill for the succeeding classes. 24 Donna Abbott Carole J. Abrahams Michael G.
