Welcome The memory of a first visit to Cobleskill and the “college on the lull” is usually a memory of the captivating view of the Schoharie County countryside. Beauty lies in every direction and the hills have a warm glow especially in the Fall. On the hill there is a small cluster of charming older buildings with the new campus extending westward along the rolling hillside. But a campus is not a college without people, and a college gains its character from the personality and attitudes of faculty, staff, and students. The newcomer soon learns that the warmth of the countryside permeates the campus as well. The entering Freshman starts with an exhaustive program of orientation which ends with the focus of attention placed on him and his schedule of classes. He quickly realizes that Cobleskill is devoted to outstanding teaching by faculty eminently qualified in their respective fields. He also discovers opportunity for individual expression both in the classroom and in the activities planned to satisfy the varying interests of an increasingly diverse body—student government, athletics, publications, theatre, music, departmental clubs and religious organizations. Convocations planned by a Faculty-Student Committee arc designed both for education and entertainment. Winter Carnival is an example of several all-college events appropriate to special seasons of the year. The events of college days lead to richer, fuller living as one learns and grows through the experience, both intellectual and social, which college provides. But there is one thing which seems to stand out in the memory of those whose college has been Cobleskill. It is the friendliness of all who are part of it. Through these pages we invite you to share our affection and concern for one DU. EDWAKI) J. SABOL President The College Council Row 2 (I. lo r.): Mr. Harold Warner.
