JOHN DUFFY In November, 1938, a great tragedy befell the students of State School, It was then that the Senior Class of 1939 lost forever one of its most promising and intelligent young men. John Duffy, President of the Senior Class, was truly a fine example of American youth. His likeability, his character, and his graciousness was an inspiration to the many friends and fellow students who knew him. IN MEMORIAM

SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS Flower—Lilac Colors—Maroon and White Front Row—Boclout. Whito, Hoimor. Second Row—Cameron, Mr. Howes. SENIOR CLASS HISTORY In the golden fall of 1938 there congregated on the hill at Cobleskill a group which was to be known in history as the class of '40. As Juniors they sponsored a banquet at the Grange Hall and a real wintery sleigh ride. As a unit they were largely represented in the Sports Carnival. With such a successful season behind, when thoy returned as Seniors, they immediately plunged into the task of making a truly successful senior year. With a class enrollment now in the middle 70's the following officers were elected: President...........................................Richard White Vice-President Evelyn D. E. Cameron Secretary .................................... Harriette Hosmer Treasurer ..................... .... ............... Ona Bookhout Student Council—Betty Gade, Francis Davis, Dorothy Sutliffe, Chester Smith, William Irving and Harley Kling. The Senior Play, Blackberry Winter , given in late April was both a financial and artistic success. The all important event, of course, was Commencement Exercises which were held in the Gym. As our Faculty Adviser, Mr. Hewes, labored long and hard and to him the Class of '40 says in parting, SALUTA
