In TQ33, New Poltz finally ac- quired cz weekly paper of its own. The editors gave their publicotion its name by com- bining the first two letters of each word, New Paltz Nor- mal, into one word, NEP- ANO. At first the paper was avoilable to subscribers only, but after a year it wos distributed free on a school-wide basis. After the Normal School was con- verted into a college the nome of the poper no longer applied. The pub- licotion of the NEPANO ceosed in l942, a casuolty of the wor as well as the change in the nature of the school. ln l944, the weekly was revived under the name of the VANDAL, covering cornpus activities during the first ten yeors of President Hog- gerty's administration. ln i953 the newspaper again underwent o chonge of name and became the ORACLE, as we know it todoy. Arts and Craft was organized in l927, even before the college became one specializing in the field of art and has continued ond grown ever since. The honor society holds two annual soles each year, sponsors the Student Sidewalk Exhibit as well as the Annual Beaux Arts Ball and the first Fine Arts Weekend. NU Pl SIGMA Formed in the Forties, Nu Pi Sigma is an honorary science fraternity, dedicated to the promotion of greater interest in the various fields of science. This organization sponsors films and programs. More recently Nu Pi has been taking in math maiors into membership and branching out into this field. President ...... ....
