I DEVELOPMENT OF SUNY COLLEGE OF E.S. AND F. The site selected for the first building was just west of a hill called Mount Olympus. Chancellor Day thought the new building should face north, as did most of the buildings on the S.U. campus, while Dean Baker thought it should face west, with later buildings occupying the area south of the stadium. He envisioned a separate forestry campus, with a magnificent view of the Onondaga valley, and the city and hills to the west. On the morning before the college trustees were to inspect the site, Dr. Baker rose early, and with a scythe, personally cleared the site he felt the new building should occupy. Chancellor Day was outwitted for Bray Hall does indeed face west today. Q- 4? - 2 when he ry school, forced t0 3 budget. 'ofk State ien-Iames with the aculfY- In the State ,I became The School 5
