Text from Pages 1 - 204 of the 1966 volume:

' . M ;y mind lets go a thousand things, Like dates of wars and deaths of kings, And yet recalls the very hour — ’Twas noon by yonder village tower, And on the last blue noon in May The wind came briskly up the way, Crisping the brook beside the road; Then pausing here, set down its load Of pine-scents, and shook listlessly Two petals from that wild-rose tree. Since 1937, William F. Kennaugh has been a major part of such a force. Once as a student, then as a teacher, and now as Dean of the College. It is to this quiet but energetic man we dedicate the Fidelitas 1966. 5 H jl r ---■ 1 A «-- ' K fjj V jM— I The willing scholars wind past slate-gray walls To Smith’s, or Ladd’s, or Sanford’s hallowed halls; In thick brown mud, on smooth black paths, on grass, On moss, on stone, on rock, on road—they pass. With smiles and grins or grim determined looks They prance with pads and pencils, bags and books. Past brick and mortar, steel and glass, they flash To classes, lectures, labs—where minds will clash. To left and right, to here and there in cold And snow or in the sun’s warm glow, the old And young, the bold and shy and small and tall Alike, go answer Wisdom’s clarion call. Joslin 53 Dear Class of 1966: Take great pride in your achievement. As you well know earning the Associate in Applied Science degree at Delhi did not occur by chance. For the first time in your life you attended school of your own volition. You came to Delhi because you wanted to come. You survived because you were determined to succeed. At your alma Mater you found yourself in an environment almost of complete freedom. In an environment where it was far easier to sink than swim. The Delhi Tech campus provided you with the opportunity to learn the meaning of all of the fine things you had been taught by your family and high school. To survive you have had to differentiate between good and bad, right from wrong, truth from fiction, and search for beauty in a world crowded with the ugly and the ordinary. Not only have you had to acquire the knowledge and the skill demanded by a challenging faculty and a rigorous curriculum, but also the social sensitivities and feeling prescribed by your friends and associates. While it is true that it is you who have earned the degree, its value must also be attributed to the investment made by others. From savings, loans, earnings, and state appropriations someone has in¬ vested in excess of three thousand dollars per academic year for you to obtain a Delhi degree. This may be low cost education, but it certainly is not cheap education. For all these reasons you and your family may take great pride in your attainment. On behalf of the faculty, administration and me, personally, I offer our congratulations and best wishes. We also take great pride in your achievement. As you join the ranks of more than 4000 loyal sons and daughters of Delhi Tech we look forward to your visits, letters, and announcements with great anticipation and with great expectations. DELTA THETA GAMMA September, 1965 ushered in Delta Theta Gamma’s forty-sixth year of existence at Delhi College. It was a year of brotherhood, cooperation and drive among the members which put 1965-1966 on the “suc¬ cessful” page of Theta Gamma’s history books. In carrying out the objectives of a true fraternity, Delta Theta Gamma sponsored and participated in so¬ cial, cultural and academic activities which were of benefit to the brothers, the college, and the community. T. G. sponsored events ranging from a March of Dimes fund drive to the Spring Weekend Float Parade. This year Kappa Sig has participated in all campus activities as well as sponsoring Competi¬ tion Weekend. Competition Weekend is the only weekend in which both Greeks and independents have a chance to compete in various events and win awards. This year through brotherhood we have won the float parade, snow sculpture, and placed high in all other sports and social events we have undertaken. We have helped to further Delhi community and the college by participating in drives and events. Many good and joyous times and a few bad ones have faced us this year, but the brotherhood and memories we have will go with us through our years. Molded in each pair of shoes which pass through this door, there are infinite amounts of happiness, achievement, and good will extended to all. The hours spent within this house are golden, and the memories of our laughter, good times together, and tears are precious. Among our memories stand out a few which we will never forget: our hootenannies . . . our mugs . . . our first cellar party . . . our pledges . . . our brothers next door . . . Mrs. R . . . Miss Gilmore . . . our pixies . . . competition sing . . . Spring Weekend . . . and Graduation. It is so hard to realize that our two year stay here has ended, and each of us will walk our own road of life. Although some of us may never cross paths again, we will always remain tied with the bonds of SISTER¬ HOOD. 82 President of Pi Nu Epsilon Sandra Muller Vice President Sue Ann Cummerton Secretary Mary Kay Callahan T reasurer Sandra Moran 83 First Row, J. Psi Delta Omega, the second organized fraternity on campus, was started in 1958 by a group of young men who saw the need for another fraternity at Delhi Tech. Our main objective is to strive for Brotherhood in the truest sense. We share our brothers’ joys and sorrows, participate in all activities, including intramural sports. What is it? Think, become a part of the picture. Transform your¬ self into the setting, see the stairwell walked so many times, the signs on office walls, the mail box, the grape vine, the sculpture or the country side. Be not blind to the stories behind a face, an object, or action. This book is not complete, nor can it be. It is a means, a road by which an end is met. For there are many ways of telling this story a thousand different focal points. A girl becomes a woman, a boy a man, a teacher gains respect, or the President stops long enough to say “Hello!” A wealth that can not be measured in dollars and cents. A wealth that you must recognize for yourself. For love comes from within and to know that which you love is to know your treasure. Perhaps, it was a special class, a teacher or a place, Memories good and bad, heart beats joyful or sad. A perpetual living of life, giving of yourself as much as you take. To measure sacrifices made for this book would be unfair. A bad quiz mark, a subject failed, what are they in relation to this, a dream come true. A special note of thanks to Mr. Zilles for his poem “Me” and to Mr. Pelletier for his poem “A Bit Like Frost.” To the Fidelitas Staff I am especially thankful. With¬ out their encouragement and devotion this book would never have been completed. GEBHARD TUCKER Photography: Advisor: Art: Editor-in-Chief George Markarian Charles Albert Judy Wenrich 192
