Rye Cove High School U’ rv Scott County Public Library GATE CITY. VIRGINIA Rye Cove U nh School Library 1963 Cove Keys to Treasured Memories Presented by the Annual Staff Rye Cove High School Scott County Public Library GATE CITY, VIRGINIA AL L 3 n 3 , a. 3 C 13 RYE COVE HIGH SCHOOL CLINCHPORT, VIRGINIA FOREWORD With the passage of years, you may look back upon this school year as the time when the darkness of ignorance suddenly became bright with the gleam of knowledge. To preserve a record of these moments and the countless other experiences of you and your classmates, this annual strives to capture the eyes and mind of the scholarship, the leadership, .The activities, and the character of Rye Cove High School. 2 TABLE OF CONTENTS Administration 5 Faculty 7 Seniors H Juniors 21 Sophomores 27 Freshmen 33 Sub -Freshmen 39 Grades 43 Activities 45 Organizations 53 Athletics 61 Advertisements 73 Contents OVERLOOKING THE FOOTBALL FIELD 3 BRYNE WILLIAMS The smile that teased upon his lips, His cheerful words to all, The happy way he moved about, Reasons are that we recall This friend, our comrade once in Life, With whom we worked and talked. One day he chose a better world, And with his Master walked. 4 ADMINISTRATION Mr. McMurray Mr. C. S. McMurray, our principal, contradicts the usual opinion one has about the leader of a school. His com- passionate and understanding attitude toward the various problems of us teen-agers is indeed opposite of the usual picture of the cool, indifferent demeanor of a high school principal. He, unlike so many other adults, hasn’t forgotten that he, too, was once an adolescent. Mr. Bledsoe His seriousness about education and the pleasure he receives from his work, make him a man who can handle the problems of the individual students as well as those of the growing student body. 6 Faculty Mr. Jack Arwood Mr. Connie M.
