To THERESA L. COOK, with our sincere gratitude for her kindness and patience in our earlier years at Rye, and her sympathy and words of advice during the past few years, we, the Class of 1956, do fondly dedicate our yearbook. 5

V W - - y fl n.g.n.s l 7' pruvci i r CLAS! 'if .-.I 4 y 1 M f 'L Websteris New Collegiate Dictionary has a definition for the word year- book: HA book, as of the statistics or facts of a year, published yearly, an annual. For us, however, the word has taken on a diiferent connotation. To us, a yearbook means more than a record of dry factsg it means a collec- tion of memories - memories of experiences, people, and thoughts. To us, a yearbook is something personal - like a scrapbook. Yes, of course - A scrapbook - A scrapbook that we shall be able to look over years from now and, smiling, remember the days when we pasted in these pictures, scribbled the captions beneath - a scrapbook that We should like to share with you whose lives are also a part of it. 4

I FL To the Class of 1956: One of the greatest satisfactions for those of us who are in education is the pleasure we derive each year in seeing our Seniors develop to the point where they are ready to move into the greater opportunities and more demanding experiences of college life. We know a full measure of such satisfaction as we consider the Class of 1956, for yours is a class which has made gratifying pro- gress in its years at the School. We are confident that all of you are now well equipped to enter new environments, to face new challenges, and to accomplish new tasks. We are reluctant- to see you depart since we have truly enjoyed our many associations with you, but we recognize that you must go and that you are ready to go. We shall remember you with affection. We shall follow your careers with interest, taking pride in your progress and achievements. We earnestly wish all of you well. May you prosper in all things, and may you know happiness. ,,1,,,g7Zflf
