Z5 SENIOR CLASS POEM How strange that 1n these l1ves of ours we never th1nk to muse On the many treasures that are ours unt1l these glfts we lose Our gratltude too often late 1n findlng 1tS expresslon Is thereby seasoned w1th regret and mouthed 1n lamentat1on For full a year we Sen1ors l1ved and walked ln h1ghest caste Unhapplly, th1s glory ours a thlng too fine to last, Shd by unnot1ced und1scovered ln 1ts hldden sheen Well dlsgulsed from unperceptlve eyes by dull routlne Our lack of recogn1t1on yet shall draw 1ts pun1shment As we recall those Golden Days w1th tearful sentlment P1est1ge and honor lost soc1ety we face To galn esteem once more, to ga1n an honored place O, would that we had stopped to bask ln sunllght now obscured Had waded deep 1n pools of admrratlon well lnsured Galnst any competltlon oiferlng serlous rlvalry By evolutlon s unavoldable sen1or1ty And yet another human f31l1Ilg eas1ly understood Is that whlch takes for granted any sort of wealth we should Have earned but whlch to us was g1v n before our efforts spent Could augment 1ts worth w1th sat1sfact1on of accompl1shment If we have shown less d1gn1f1ed respect for our posltlon Than lt deserved remember please the human composltlon And Judge us falrly too, however deep we sank Our sms forglven now the Fates we have to thank That thankless though We were we re only Stflpped of rank Susan Ames 'I4 . . . . 3 7 7 7 GC 77 ' ' . . , .
