I The class of l950 welcomes as a fellow alumna Mrs, Foshay who this June leaves the School after thirty years of service as a teacher, during seventeen of which she has been Chairman of the Lower School. Joining the Kindergarten staff in 1920, she shortly moved to Grade Two, and then in 1927 to Grade Three where she has preferred to remain these twenty-two years. During her long period of employment Mrs. Foshay has been guide and instructor for about five hundred boys and girls, and friend and adviser for their fathers and mothers. As Chairman she has contributed, to the School as a whole and to her colleagues in particular, not only administrative ability and integrity but good sense and cordiality. Mrs. Foshay will be affectionately remembered by pupils, parents, and staff members for several outstanding personal qualities. To her pupils she has given enthusiasm and skill as an instructor, gentleness and hrmness as a disciplinarian, love and understanding as a sort of foster parent, to parents she has offered wisdom and patience and kindliness, which, part of her nature, were enhanced by her own experi- ence as a motherg to faculty associates she has been a constant friend and ready hostess, generously providing encouragement and hospitality. As she now drops ofhcial duties to devote herself to friends and family, Mrs. Foshay should feel the deep satisfaction of having enriched the lives and earned the regard of all those children and adults with whom she has worked and played at Rye Country Day School. , 30
