VVilli.im Qmlth fgaaffaff The diamnod crew under Coach Flaitz swept their first Five games, but lost the city title to the Acads, l to 6 and 5 to 6. The Raiders outrslugged Poultney in both tilts, 6 to O and 8 to 1. Fair Haven failed to hit and lost the hrst game 1 to O and the second 6 to 5. Wins were shared with Springfield when R, H. S, won the first battle 6 to 5 and dropped the last I2 to 5. ln Burlington, the Redmen chopped out an 8 to 4 win over the Seahorses, The diamond in Glens Falls saw a 5 to 4 defeat lor Rutland. johnny Young, lim Guild, Bud McConnell and Carleton Clifford handled the hurling chores, while Bob Miles stopped their speed behind the plate. Bob Perkins shared games with lim Guild at first base. Bill Thomas and Bob Sharrow did the work around second base and shortstop. Rip Kellogg played the hot corner. The boys in the Hpasturel' were Fred Richmond, Dick Clifford, Bob Fuller and Malcolm Guild. The '49 team did not meet general expectations, but promises to develop. especially in the pitching department. Three battery mates graduate this year. They are Captain Bill Thomas. 'lRip Kellogg and Dick ClilTord, They leave a very experienced team for 1950.
