During the year, twentvfthree fourfpage issues were published and two sixfpage issues. The Christmas issue was printed in color. Une of the most interesting events of the year was the tryout season, when tryouts read, studied, and finally wrote the type of articles in which they were most interested. This period was conducted under the supervision of the faculty adviser, Miss Madeline Buttles. Staff meetings were held from time to time to discuss possible improve' ments for both members of the business and editorial boards. The tryout season was especially beneficial to the latter, enabling the paper to support itself without the aid of some social function. Cooperation among the staff members has resulted in a successful year for the Rctl .intl X'Vlzite. fran! run: Miss Madeline Buttles. lsamlty fitliixcr, Geraldine Phillips, Virginia Qmith. slane Rudin, Lorraine Bleiclchardt. -loan Mclierlcy, joan Nlintzer, Barham Rich. Graduates,' from junior Mimes, plus all juniors and seniors who were interested in drama, constituted this year's organization. They elected as their leaders: Judith Andrews, president, Marilyn Carlisle, vice president, Joan Mintzer, secretary, Darleyne Hart, treasurerg and Charlotte Smith, program chairman. Every meeting was devoted to some activity connected with the theater, malcefup demonstrations, excerpts from, and onefact, plays, talks by the mem' bers on some phase of actingg and discussions of current articles and pictures dealing with drama. Additionally, several demonstrations on the right way to act were given. Two assembly plays were presented, one of which was VVe Hold These Truthsn put on in collaboration with junior Mimes, Also, a childrens play was shown to members of the grade schools and The Hungerersw was entered in the State Play Contest. fs fe L tuziot 5 ima: Stagefstruclc freshmen and sophomores learned much ahout the theater during meetings of the hlunior Mimes this year under the guidance of Mrs- Elimheth B. Greene. They listened to talks concerning the history of the theater and viewed illustrative worlfc, such as the various types of plays in existence. Additionally, actual work in acting was carried out, the results of which were a 0ne'act play, A Dogs Life, and We Hold These Truths, the latter heing staged with the Mimes Cluh in assemhly. Memhership in junior fvlimes is a stepping stone to Mimes, the senior organization. just as much work and interest is put into this cluh for less experienced drama students, though, as is evident in Mimes. The officers responsible for the leadership oifhlunior Mimes this year were: Mary jeffords, presidentg blaclcie Daley, vice presidentg and Cynthia Taylor, secretaryftreasurer. lrunl su Nlrs hlimhcth Greene l.i.ul:x fkliiyrr.
