RUTLAND HIGH SCHOOL THREE CHEERS Three cheers for Rutland High School, Three cheers for Rutland High, And let this be our motto, To ever do or die. Crimson and black our colors, May they forever fly. The pride of the loyal students Of dear old Rutland High. The years will come and go, And classes disappear, But still her friends will love her And loud for her will cheer. The alumni and the students Will praise her as the best. And she’ll not want for backing, Our dear old R.H.S. 2

MEIGS LOCAL BOARD Left to Right: FIRST ROW: Lee McComas, Clerk; Richard Jones, President; Mrs. E. O. Rail, Vice-President. SECOND ROW: Hiram Slawter, William King, Virgil King. Asa result of the passage of a consolidation proposal in the 1965 November election, the Northwestern Local School District officially ceased to exist on January 3, 1966. This consolidation united the local school districts of Northwestern, Bedford, and Salisbury and the exempted village school dis- tricts of Middleport and Pomeroy. Each of the five districts appointed one member to the new board of education, which is pictured above, for a term of two years. This board has chosen the temporary name of Meigs Local for the new district but may change it at some future date. The main issues facing the new board are the selecting of a local superin- tendent and the securing of the passage of a bond issue in May to provide money for the construction of a new high school. The present high schools will remain unchanged until the new building has been constructed. There will be no change in the elementary and junior high schools at the present time. 3
