Who has the ball? Two more points for Rutland! The coach seems worried! Larry tipped it in ! CLASS WILL SENIOR CLASS (IE1961 We, the Seniors of Rutland High School, being in sound mind and body, do hereby bequeath and dispose of our worldly possessions in the following manner: To the faculty, we leave the ecstatic feeling of relief which will follow our departure. To the janitors, we leave the task of cleaning our muddy footprints from the halls of R.H.S. To the Juniors, we leave our tattered textbooks. Please erase the mushy notes from the pages. To the Sophomores, we leave our quiet and unassuming manners. The faculty should appreciate that. To the Freshmen, we leave our hopes that you, too, will someday grow up to be as sophisticated and world-wise as we are. I, Nina Adkins, will my southern accent to Nancy Gardner. Now you're a true, dyed-in-the- wool Southerner. I, Bobby Arnold, will my hotrod driving to Clarence Lambert. Make sure you slow down on the curves. I, Betty Arnold, will my brains to Helena Moore. Figuratively speaking, that is! I, Larry Bolin, will my shyness to Lawrence Smith. To blush, just hold your breath. I, Anna Barrett, will my engagement ring to June Tillis. Just remember that Lawrence doesn't go with the ring. I, Barry Brogan, will my empty billfold to Sonny Slawter. Now money won't burn holes in your pocket, Sonny. I, Kay Barr, will my ability to argue in government class to Florence Boring. First, make sure Mr. Dudding is in a good mood. I, Paul Browning, will my charm to Billy Hayes. Believe me, boy, you really need it! I, Maud Brewer, will my ability to get along with boys to Martha Brewer. Just make sure you never tell them the truth. I, Roy Cremeans, will my hair to Dick Dugan. Always use Wildroot Cream Oil, Dick. I, Roy Crouser, will my ability to sing to Jim Sheets. You may break a few glasses, but you may learn in time. I, Rosalie Davis, will my Paul Anka pictures to Jane Parsons. I hope your crush isn't as bad as mine, Jane. I, Carolyn Edwards, will my position in The. National Honor Society to May Lee Edwards. You'll have to stop chasing the boys if you want to get better grades. I, Jimmy George, will my ability to slide around Rathburn's Corner to Jim Haggy. Watch out for that big tree ! ! I, Joyce Hatfield, will my 49 Dodge to Roberta Grate. The heater doesn't work, but who needs a heater? I, Marlin Goff, will my height to Tommy Jackson. Now you won't have to stand on the bleachers to see the football games. I, Margaret Kitchen, will my short hair to Crella Priddy. It's very easy to care for. I, Jimmy Griffith, will my glasses to Darrell Smith, although I can't see a thing without them. I, Leta Longstreth, will my ability to get along with my boy friend to Betty Janey. Always keep the upper hand on boys. I, Jim Bill Hobstetter, will to David Pierce my fullback position. Don't let the guys kick your teeth out! ! I, Rosemary Mace, will my height to Judy Lee. Now you'll have to stand on the top step to kiss your boy friend goodnight. I, Larry Hoffman, will my big mouth to Lee Combs, who doesn't really need it. I, Elena Martin, will my Homecoming Crown to Phyllis Howard. Good luck next year, Phyllis. I, Robert Lambert, will my ability to stay out of fights to Joe Stafford. Run as fast as you can when you see the other fellow getting mad. 69 I. Louise Milam, will my figure to Shirley Lee. That is, in return for yours. I, Larry Long, will my French charm to Larry Parsons. As the French say, Le chic. I, Sue Nelson, will my majorette boots to Ann Sprouse. Now you'll have to fill my boots and your own, too. I, Patty Rife, will my ability for leadership to Margaret Ellis. But you can bet that Larry won't be around to back you up! I. David Martin, will my ability to run fast to Wesley Sisson. Wesley, it all depends on what you're running from or after. I, Robert Long, will my good looks to Waid Nelson. That is, if you want to take the chance of being so goodlooking. I, Clifton Morris, will my quiet manner to Roger Riggs. They say still water runs deep. I, Margaret Smith, will to Betty Morris and Anna Ehrenfrels each, one of my boy friends' brothers. Don't fight, girls, there are eight of them. I. Dwight Nelson, will my (false) curly hair to Sammy Birchfield. Please treat it gently; it cost me $5.95. I. Janet Stewart, will my turned-up nose to Dot Smith. It's really an eye catcher. I, Cecil Nelson, will my ability to sleep in study hall to Junior Carter. Please don't snore! ! I, Bernice Swan, will my ability to play the clarinet to Jane Crisp. It isn't much, but you can have it anyway. I, Waid Nicholson, will my good grades to Ronald Haning. The secret is in buttering up the teachers. I, Judy Tackett, will my place as the Queen's attendant to Juianiata Tackett. We have got to keep a Tackett in the Court. I, James Payne, will my cigarettes to Tom Spaulding. Hope you like filter-tips. I, Osa Turner, will my Phoebe Goodhart Badge to Sandy Little. You'd be surprised how many broken hearts there are at R.H.S. I, Larry Price, will my driving ability to Junior Rife. It's hard to decide which is the more costly--pedestrians or mailboxes. I, Sue Weaver, will my wardrobe to Donna Weaver. On one condition, you must buy me a whole new wardrobe. I, Tommy Reed, will my childlike innocence to John Warner. Use it only on the faculty. I, Janet Wright, will my stubborness to Connie Lewis. With our two combined, what a com- bination ! ! I, Richard Rife, will my beautiful eyes to Carlos McKnight. Learn to use them wisely, Carlos. I, Charles Sigman, will my blond hair to Darrell Keys. Use H2O2 every weekend before a date. I, Dean Will, will my temper to David Wiseman. It should go very nicely with your red hair. I, Gerald Wears, will my girl friends to Alan King. Tell them lies and feed them candy; that's the only way to win. I, Charles Barrett, will my red slacks to Andy Chapman. They attract attention. If you don't believe me, just get close to Hiram Slawter's bull. And Lastly------WE LEAVE 70 Attorney At Law--Nina Adkins Assi stant--Rosalie Davis CLASS PROPHECY FOR 1971 The life of a newspaper reporter is always hard. Today the editor, Mr. Waid Nicholson, sent me to interview the U. S. Ambassador to Russia, Clifton Morris. I found him in his library reading Jim Griffith's new book, HOW I BECAME A MILLIONAIRE. He put the book down and politely asked me to have a seat. His private secretary, Miss Joyce Hatfield, interrupted us to inform Mr. Morris that the Secretary of State, Mr. Cecil Nelson, was calling from Washington. Hastily he excused himself and left the room. Mr. Robert Lambert, his butler, brought me a cup of tea. There was a knock on the door and the distinguished Senator from Ohio, Dwight Nelson, entered with the Minister to Japan, James Payne. They informed me that Mr. Morris would be unable to continue the interview. Next on my list was a visit to the Scientific Research Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Larry D. Long. Dr. Long is attempting to build a robot woman, which, he hopes, will some- day replace the woman of today. Dr. Long had just contacted Dr. Richard Rife, director of the U. S. Research Station on the Moon. Dr. Rife, with the assistant of Dr. Tommy Reed, is developing a strange new metal named munilium. At the Scientific Research Laboratory I met the famous brain surgeon, Dr. Paul Browning, from Italy. Dr. Browning was staying at the sumptuous hotel of Marlin Goff. After I left the Research Laboratory, I visited Leta Longstreth, the famous fashion designer, at her salon. Mrs. Kay (Barr) Cadwallader was being fitted for a ball gown. With her was Rose Mary Mace, executive head of Ramer Corporations. They were talking excitedly of the Spring Ball, being held by that famous lady of society, Miss Janet Stewart. Miss Stewart had just returned from a European trip on Barry Brogan's privately-owned jet airliner. My next assignment was a court case. The defendant. Miss Bernice Swan, was accused of smashing the fender on Janet Wright's new, custom-built Buick. Miss Swan was brillantly defended by the Famous woman lawyer, Miss Louise Milam. The judge, Mr. Dean Will, was obviously in sympathy with the claimant, having a special regard for Buicks. Afterwards I went to lunch at Carolyn Edwards' Hawaiian Inland Restaurant. The dinner musical included the golden voice of popular night-club crooner, Mr. Roy Cremeans, with the thrilling music of Hawaiian guitarist, Mr. Robert Long. Charles Sigman, Hollywood's most promising young actor, sat at the table opposite mine with his new leading lady, Maud Brewer. They were accompanied by the producer of Man in Black, Mr. Charles Barrett. While leaving the restaurant, I bumped into private investigator, Larry Price. He was hot on a case, no doubt. After lunch I went to the International Speedway where the National Speed Competition was being held. Jim Bill Hobstetter achieved the top speed, 594 mph, in his red Tarantula. The car was designed and built by racing car expert, Roy Crouser. A trophy was presented to Hobstetter by Gerald Wears, former winner of the Speed Competition. Miss Betty Arnold, the owner of the Speedway, congratulated Hobstetter for his performance on the track. As I left the Speedway, I met Miss Rosalie Davis, heiress to her uncle's six million dollars. Even her dog wore a mink coat. I also caught a glimpse of Sue Nelson, who owns that fleet-footed thoroughbred, Lady Luck. The Lady is favored to win the Kentucky Derby, especially since she will be ridden by world-famous jockey, Bobby Arnold. I also met Larry Hoffman and his wife, the former Patty Rife, who had just arrived from their banana plantation in South America. They were accompanied by three cannibals in native dress, hereby causing quite an attraction. Next I visited the U. S. Air Force Base, commanded by General Jimmy George. He super- vises some of the best jet pilots in the world, among which Dave Martin is rated highly. Mrs. David Martin, nee Judy Tackett, is very proud of her husband. Margaret (Smith) Edwards lives on the base. She is General George's private secretary. My last assignment was an interview with the second woman candidate for President, Margaret Kitchen. Her campaign manager, Elena Martin, seems to feel that Miss Kitchen will win by a landslide. On my way back to the newspaper I stopped for a cup of tea at Gladys (Stowers) Cross’ expresso coffee shop. Since Anna (Barrett) Brogan returned from her summer cottage in England; tea-drinking has become quite the rage. This day has been a tense, exhausting one. I think I'd better see that eminent psychiatrist, Osa Turner, before I report back to the editor. Perhaps she can soothe shattered nerves. But after all, there's the same old routine tomorrow. 71 Nina Adkins KING’S BUILDING SUPPLY COMPANY Phone WY 2-3748 Bradbury Road Middleport, Ohio CARTER’S Restaurant and Grocery Phone SH 2-4895 Main Street Rutland, Ohio WELLS ORCHARD AND STORAGE Apples and Peaches Walter M.
