OUR FOOTBALL TEAM Our football team, under the able coaching of Mr. Collins enjoyed one of the most successful seasons in years. With the exception of two pos- sible let-downs resulting in losses to Pomeroy and Middleport, the season was a succession of victories. Although our team was light, a deceptive running formation when combined with an effective aerial attack formed an offense which speaks for itself in the fact that we scored 149 points during the season. Our defense was what you might call “air tight” as only three teams were able to score on us, namely: Middleport, Pomeroy and Buchtel. These teams scored a total of 49 points. Several games will long be cherished in the minds of the players. How about the surprise trouncing we handed Wellston? Although it was scheduled for a practice game for the Golden Rods, we gained a surprising victory. The boys entered against an unknown team and gave an excel- lent exhibition of football. We also gained sweet revenge from McArthur for ruining our Home- ccming last year. The thirty-four to nothing trimming we gave them erases every trace of that event. We succeeded in effecting the only defeat our rival, Chauncey, suffered this season. Summing it up, we won seven games and lost two. And we wish next year’s team an even more successful season. twenty-three
