Class H zstory It s been gomg on ever smce there has been an axrplane lcnown as the Ruthven Publxc People have been gettmg on from the world of ch1ldren and gettmg off LH a completely new and dxffe rent world the W orld of Better People we thmk of twelve years 111 partxcular From tn September of 1938 untll m May of 1950 the years It took us to get to our World of Better People There were seventeen boys and gxrls on the passenger 11st of the Ruthven Publlc Those who had t1ckets that br1ght September mornmg were Kathleen Brennen JoAnn Whztman Lxnda Lee Helen Stewart Ellowene Thompson Bonn1e Johnson Tom Grady Robert Aldrxch Ph1l1p Cleveland Harlan Bxgger Ronnze Myers Marlene O Conner Jack Prather Donn1e Sundall Robert Roland V1olet stevens and Ralph Bates Our pxlot for thxs fxrst one twelfth of the trxp was 'MISS Fern Smlth Thus we began our Jour ney Our p1lot for the second one twelfth of our journey was Mlss Ruth Stenburg Bonn1e Johnson 'Vlarlene O Conner Jack Prather and Robert Roland dropped out he re They dec 1ded to take a dxffe rent plane to the World Lavonne Malden Rosemary Peterson Glor1a Good 'Vlelvm Wxshrnan and Joan Saeuglmg At the next stop Donme Sundall and Robert Aldrxch dropped out and we p1cked up Mary Ann Klrkegard and Betty Lou Smlth to take w1th us 1n the good old plane The pxlot for th1S part of the tr1p was lVl1ss LlO1S9 Souer Many of our frlends left us at the next stop Those who deczded on a dxfferent route th1s year were Lavonne lVla1den Rosemary Peterson Harlan Blgger Ph111p Cleveland and V1olet Stevens We only took one more up that was John Lmebarger Thus Mxss Ehzabeth Tuffm zoomed us through the fourth part of the trlp Miss Dorothy Underwood av1ated our plane through the next lap of our tmp We lost Kathleen Brennen Mary Ann Kukegard and Ronnle 'Vlyers Thls year we welcomed Nlarrlyn Cronwall and Dav1d Fmnegan For the s1xth part of our trxp we welcomed Mary Ellen Voss to our plane We all w1shed Tom Grady a happy journey through th1 part of the tr1p ln Yok1ma Washmgton Then wlth the same pzlot lVl1ss Dorothy Underwood we agam started on Between the srxth and seventh laps of our journey our old fa1th.ful plane the Ruthven Publ1c burned leavxng us all very sad Vhen 1t came txme to move on we went mn a borrowed plane the Method1st Church However when we got used to the new surroundmgs we were very happy because we were now 17 . .. beginning the second half of our trip and were now allowed II1 on some of the things that the higher seated people did We flew with Mrs Logan durmg this lap and added quite a few people to our little group The new ones were Elaine Pilquist Marjorie Pilquist Jon Cedarholm Marion Feissler and Wilmer Feissler We also welcomed Tom Grady back again Joan Saeuglmg spent this part of the trip with some people in Guttenburg Iowa Mrs Hazel Logan remained as our pilot in the eighth part of our trip The new passengers were Doris Slmonson Alma Langfit Mervonne Garrelts Earl Brock and Dean Christiansen We also welcomed Kathleen Brennen and Joan Saeugling back Marion Feissler Wilmer Feissler John Lmebarger and Jon Cedarholm are no longer on the plane with the rest of us At the half way mark our plane stopped to refuel and we welcomed two more friends They were Hazel Biggerstaff and Leila Whiting Then we began the trip through the last four laps of our journey which also led us through the four best years of our lives We chose Andy Hermanson Pres1dent Linda Lee Vice President and Mar11ynCronwall Secretary Treasurer as our officers in flight The top commanders were Mr L J Cronwall Supermtendent Miss Irma Davidson Principal Mr Donald Hahn Mr Sherwood Rowlands Mr Bert Kruse Mrs Nora G Tripp and Mrs Mildred Largey Sophomores with a skating party at Arnolds Park The newcomers to our ship this year were the following Andy Hermanson Dean Grethen Betty Wilson Vendell Rezabek Bonnie Peterson Virginia Nissen Nila Brauner Wanda Slmington Mable Schnell Audrey Clasing and Doris Baxter Tom Grady IS gone again but Mervonne Garrelts and Alma Langfit spent part of this year with us before both decided on a dif ferent plane for the remainder of the journey Now we are Sophomores' We gave the Freshmen a good initiation this year and then received a very nice theatre party in Spencer from them Edna Westergard from Graettmger is with us for the remainder of the trip Tom Grady is back again and this time it 1S for good though we bid Marilyn Cronwall and JoAnn Whitman good bye At the half way mark of this leg of the trip we said good bye to Dean Grethen and Betty Smith and said hello to Marlene and Pat McDonald This year the officers xn flight were Tom Grady President Doris Baxter Vice President and Linda Lee Secretary Treasurer We had a new crew of com manding officers They were Mr C S Mayhew Supermtendent Mr Donald K Sunde Principal Mr J E Hoekstra Mrs Evah M Skarr Miss Frances T Wyman Mlss Esther Schram Mrs Mildred Largey and Mrs Nora Tripp 18 . . . , . . . . , , . . , . . . .
