Meek left our class Harley Ruehle left the latter part of the year Margreta Hansen and Bobby Cole Joln ed the group also Peggy Peterson and Janles Anderson Thls year an all school muslcal was pre- sented and some of the members of our class took part We dld folk dances and the glrls and boys dressed as the people dld ln the years of long ago Eleven students stal ted our slxth year of grade school under MISS Ruth McMllllan and Mlss Dor othy Underwood Later ln the year MISS MCMllllaH became Mrs Harlex Hanson New mermfbers were Russel Lantz and Mary Helen McKlnney James Anderson left our group Our seventh grade year started wlth Mrs Har ley Hanson and later ln the year her place was fllled by Mrs Hazel Logan Donald Malden left our class and EYVIH Norblad and Robert Rauhauser Jolned our class 'Dhls year we took part rn a ChflSt mas part, whlch was entltled Father Tlmes Chrlst mas Party Mrs Hazel Logan wa.s agaln our teacher as we began our flnal year of grade school Durwood SChmldt and Walter Wlshman left our class thls year and Arnold Roland Maxlne Eaton Paul Schnell and Dean Mohr Jolned our group Thls year most of the members of our class took part ID an operetta XV'l'llCh was called D Toybones Thl year the Elghtntl glade gaye a play ln the spring It was called Wlldcat YVlllle ID the Doghouse and lt starred Bob Cole and Mary Helen McKlnney ln the leadlng roles All members of the class had a part ln the play Frances Myers was valedlctorlan and Arnold Roland was the salutatorlan of the elghth grade Thus we bade farewell to our grade school days and when fall came around we were lCldX to enter hlgh school w rth llght hearts and ner a worry about the future Our flISt year of hlgh school began on Septem ber 7 1944 Because the hlgh school bulldlng had been destloved by flre on July 5 1944 we polnted our shaklng feet toward the Methodlst church The other classes dld not enforce thelr senrorlty ratlngs upon us too much Never the less the annual and lnevltable freshman lnltlatlon took place at the hands of the sophomores After havlng been lnltlat ed the sophomol es gave us a party We gave them a return party at Arnolds Park roller skatlng Also xery lmportant to us thlS year w as the fact that our nomlnatlons for the queen and klng of the hlgh school carnlval were elected They were MaXlH6 Eaton and John Grady The members of our class durlng the freshman year were Arthur Voss Kenneth Pllqulst Paul Schnell Blll Grange Dean Mohr Geraldlne Dren nen Mary Lou Nolan Delores Allen Frances Myers Vela Hermanson Mary Helen McKlnney Patsy Stewart Kelth Whltford Maxlne Eaton Cleo Slmlngton Arnold Roland Bob Cole Bob Rauhau ser John Grady and Peggy Peterson Mary Helen McKlnney left our class later ln the year to attend school at Emmetsburg Our teachers durlng the year were L J Cron wall Irma R Davlson Nora Trlpp Mary Jean Logan Erllng Hanson and Ward Sanford When we agaln approached the Metlhodlst church the next fall we dld so wlth the Strlde WhlCh only the confldent can possess As sophomores we were confldent To our star studded class we add ed LaVonne Wlchman Melva Brock Helen Beaver 'Vola Barley LuVerne Slmonson Bob Galentlne Durwood Schmldt and Harley Ruehle One of our better moments durlng the year was the freshman lnltlatlon Our teachers thls year were L J Cron wall Irma R Davlson Nora.
