www SEPTEMBER 1944 EMEMBER how dusappounted we were as we arruved at R H S7 Here last years bug tume nunth graders were unsugnufucant sophomores But we soon got used to hugh school The uunuor and senuor boys began checkung on the sophomore gurls Guzzy was captaun of the football team and they won 6 lost 3 and tued l We got our furst taste of football partues and the boys learned what a real work out was durung football practuce By then Busch dud lt and Kleun wants a cartwheel were calls heard all over the school The basketball team captauned by Paul Clausen also had a good season Well never forget V E Day that sprung and the trouble we got unto for takung the afternoon off We saud good bye to school that June wuth the knowledge that next September we d be able to look down on the new sophomores SEPTEMBER 'I945 E WENT back to school that fall as uunuors not new enough to get the attentuon that sophomores get and not hugh enough for senuor pruvuleges Thus was our furst year of peace sunce l94l V J Day had been announced and celebrated the past summer Thus was also a bug year un sports for Greg s football team went undefeated to wun the NNJIL champuonshup They beat Passauc 7 6' Was ut because Eddue had banned football partues un favor of Fruday nught mulk partues? The basketball team had a lot of color that year wuth Bobby Weuss Rant and Burd Legs We got our class rungs that sprung and saw off the Class of 46 wuth the thought un mund that we were next SEPTEMBER 1946 H here we are at last senuors' So what happens? They take away the senuor door After much grupung petutuonung and promuses to be orderly we got the tradutuonal senuor pruvulege back Thus was our year the sophomores and uunuors had to stand for us un assembly and they couldn t use OUR door We had a new coach takung Eddue Tryon s place George Melunkovutch All but two of last year s furst team had graduated so Mel dud a darn good job wuth an unexperuenced team Ron De Lulla and Gene LaMagna were co captauns and the banquet was held at the Meadowbrook There was quute a bedlam un school when the annual class nught was stretched unto class week Those haur rauds gave us an udea of what some of the boys wull look luke thurty years from now when they re bald By the end of the football season dear old R H S had quute a few cars ll use the term luberallvl parked un front One day Bull Broderuck s car lust happened to get on the front walk leadung to the senuor door Basketball season came along and Cap Cartuer broke a Rutherford Hugh scorung record We saud good bye to Mr Ellus and hello to Mr Heusler un February Sprung ushered un the Good Humor Man and senuors were remunded of how luttle tume they had left The class voted on Asbury Park for the class trup but because of a few persustent people wuth petutuons there was a re votung thus tume un favor of Rye Beach We had our puctures taken by Mrs Foley and there was a mad rush to get year book materual un on tume Baron s and Dav enport s drug stores made a small fortune on the sudden photographuc boom un school By thus tume all senuors were aware of the approachung graduation and when the new rules for courtesy un the halls were beung approached we thought we d be glad to get out Here we are at the end of a chapter un our luves School has presented problems ut has meant work but more than anythung else school has meant fun fruends and good carefree tumes 23 I . . .
