Board of Education The Board of Educa- tion formulates the general policies for the seven city schools. They also control the finances of the school system. Mrs. Virtue, Mr. Pope, Mr. Sherman, Dr. Glendening, Mr. Burkhart, Mr. M. Law, Mr. Hopkins Teachers Executive Committee This committee formulates the policies of our high school. Guidance 14' MR. PETER GROSS Mr. Peter Gross is the psychologist for the Delaware City School system. His duties include giving place- ment tests to new students and conducting surveys and compiling statistics about our schools to improve them. Mr. Gross is a popular figure in our schools and has appeared as a speaker in many classes. MR. SHERMAN MOIST Mr. Sherman Moist is our full-time guidance counselor at Hayes. Before b e c o m i n g counselor he t a ugh t Problems of Democracy and World History. Mr. Moist is kept very busy with the necessary tests and confer- ences with seniors who are puzzled about their future, yet he still finds time to enter into many school extra- curricular activities, including the student counciland the tennis team. MISS PEARLE WELLS Miss Pearle Wells, better known to her students as Teach, is a very popular person around Hayes. Be- sides having freshman physical ed- ucation classes and some health classes, Miss Wells is also a guid- ance counselor. Teach also serves as the adviser to the cheerleaders. i 2 me . 5, 5 t

Carol Fisher Pleasant smiles and friendly words for everyone are the trademarks of Carol Fisher, the secretary to Mr. Graham. Carol is kept busy all the time mimeographing material, typ- ing correspondence, and filling in blue slips for tardy students. l Mr. Rodenfels, Mr. Bevan, Mr. Quillen Mr. Ward Bus Drivers Early in the morning the Bus Drivers arise to drive students to school. They put up with a lot of ruckus and last through the day, three round trips, with patience and friendliness. Secretaries Carol is ready at the White l-louse when crises break out. She serves as receptionist and secretary as well as a host of other positions. Frances Marks Miss Marks, secretary to the Super- intendent, was once a familiar part of the High School.
