HAYES HIGH SCHOQL Delaware, Ohio Volume 32 ,-...,..ww ' i N From the roomy no me crowded From the panther to the pacer. From the old to the new. Ulm-is-uu-w..........., as'ter-isk Cas' ter iskj, n. QL. asteriscus, fr. Gr. asteriskos, dim. of aster, starj The figure ofa star, thus ', used in printing and writ- ing as areference toapassage or note in the margin. . . or to mark a word or phrase as having special character. We feel that this year has had a special character because of the numerous changes which have occurred in the high school. Some of these changes are illustrated on the previous page, the transition to the loaded locker Qthey were already full enoughj, the hopeful hop to I-layes High, and the substitution of Peppy Pacer for Willy Panther Qnot only did he bring a new look but new luck as welll. This year has had as characteristics many confusing circum- stances, many changes necessitated by our schedule, many com- plaints and many compliments. All these are depicted in our calen- dar section which follows. The Delhi's new look for this year is an exciting attempt to capture the unusual and interesting events of this year as th-ey happened rather than simply picturing the same groups as in past years. We have adopted the asterisk as a symbol of emphasis and as a variation we are employing the star as a symbol of change, not only for this year but for the book as well. This departure from past yearbooks is in- tended to make a more .meaningful book by showing many important events as they occurred and those people who were closely associated with them. The Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Classes are placed throughout the Chronicle with the idea that everyone contributed to the year's activities and the school community. LAWRENCE WELLS, Secretary The Junior High School of 1961-1962 by no means lacks the problems of the previous yearg however, under the careful supervision of Mr. Walsh, Principal, the nine period afternoon sched- ule runs with little confusion. Four hundred and -sixty students walk the halls from 12:03 to 5:05 With a wide-awake look not found in the morning classes of Senior High. Much devoted time and work has been put forth by Mr. Walsh and Mrs. Wells. As Principal Mr. Walsh's main duties are centered around administration and supervision of Junior High School. Co-ordinating all factors of the school institution, programming, scheduling and even managing the milk market make up his busy day. Hidden behind the scenes is. perky Mrs. Wells, secretary and receptionist in the Junior High office. Her duties of clerical Work, re- cording, and attendance take much time and hard Work. Appreciation is extended to these two for their successful operation of the Junior High in this highly complicated year. Instructors MR. MICHAEL BETO MR. HOWARD MRS. ANNABELLE MR.
