With camera and pen we have tried to catch the spirit of Rutgers-Newark. We call this yearbook ENCORE 1965. It is a reflection of our college life, and it is a search-within ourselves, our college experience, and the world-for understanding. Rutgers-Newark is a city college. Perhaps too much smog and too little ivy have been our lot, some have even said that the city's noise and dirt are poor substitutes for the quiet beauty of the secluded campus. Yet, in spite of such drab gray horizons, each student, in the presence of good books and wise scholars, is offered the academic truths of life. We are thankful that Rutgers-Newark has not isolated us from the rest of the world, we have not been given pat answers to the critical issues of our times. Instead, the stress has been on the career , for this, our professors, by word and by example, have been invaluable. Through their knowledge, we have begun to understand our modern life. How many times, and for what reasons, each of us will look back at ENCORE 1965 will be a matter of individual concern and, we hope, satisfaction.
