The Rutgers Experience: What is it? Where is it? When does it happen? To some students, the Rutgers experience is made up of the eternal conflict over a parking space. an overcrowded College Center. or a social event. These things are part of our total college experience. but they do not comprise it's entirety. Experience can best be characterized through in- volvement - a word used often this year to motivate and activate. A small commuter college such as ours has a tendency to alienate the student from the main- stream of college life. Some students. knowing this, are content to sit back and accept this as their fate. Other students are not so inclined and are willing to come together in an attempt to make their college experience more meaningful. 'When one begins to get involved. one begins to ex- perience. This coming together is in itself part of the total experience. Rutgers students may come together in various ways at various times. Activities range from chartered organizations to loosely knit happenings. The student. in an effort to get involved. may join any of the numerous clubs and organiza- tions. or may participate on those occasions where action is more spontaneous. The Rutgers Experience is keyed to involvement . involvement in class, in activity, and in spontaneity.
