Mr. FOOTBALL XVith a record of five victories. one defeat, and one tie, the Rutgers Prep foothall squad won the respect, admiration, and gratitude of the entire school. ln the first game of the season the Little Scarlet received a major sethack when they encountered P.Nl.C. Prep at Chester. Pennsylvania. Prepis only threat occurred in the first half, after which the play was dominated hy Penn. who em- erged a 32-0 victor. Play Braender. however, was outstanding for Prep hoth of- fensively and defensively. The Little Scarlet moved into North jersey for their second game to comhat lilair Academy. lVith Rutgers hehind 12-0 near the end of the first half. Hay Braender faded hack and hit jim ligloff, Prep end, with a 50 yard heave on the Blair 10, and Big jimi' raced over to score. It was 12-G as the half came to an end. ln the second half the Prepsters completely ont-played, out-fought. and ont- scored the Blairstowners. The comhined efforts of lloy Dill and 'loe Dnrkin paved Housman. the way for Hem Burhank's tally. The final score was 12-12 The stirring victory over Peddie School turned ont to he the initial one of a five game win streak for Coach llonsmanis eleven. Both teams had airtight defensesg as a result, the first half was a three downs and punt battle. Taking advantage of every opportunity. the Little Scarlet during the third period marched deep into Peddie territory on driving gains made hy Pray Braender. Hoy Dill. and Dave Leklienx. Dill climaxed the 65 yard advance hy plunging over from the 1 yard stripe. lim Egloff made good the placement. and the Prep- sters were ahead to stay. T-0 Rutgers Prep gained its second victory hy heating Oakland Nlilitary Acad- emy 32-19 at Oakland. Handicapped hy poor playing conditions, especially hy the field itself. Prep trailed T-0 early in the first period. Things then happened mlnicklyf Prepis Bill Keener recovered a fumhle on the Oakland S. and Roy Dill hncked across for the score T-61 Dave LeNlienx intercepted an Oakland pass and raced 32 yards for another tonchdowng and .Xl Xittolo. Prepis defensive ace. intercepted a lateral and raced -453 yards to score. putting the Little Scarlet ahead 10-T. .-Ks the half ended. llay llraender tossed a 25 yard touchdown pass to lim ligloll to put Prep in the yan hy 26-T. llvitll Oakland threatening in the fonrth quarter. a Bnrhaiik-to-llraender pass offset the score, and the Little Scarlet emerged a 32-19 victor.
