The social season was inaugurated hy a Barn Dance gfrcn in the gym. Cornstalks, pumpkins. gardening tools, and wheel harrows placed in strategic positions transforlned the gym into a lofty harn. Animated drawings hy joe Lehow of various harnyard characters adorned the walls, The affair was attended hy a multitude of fun-seeking couples who were not to he disappointed. Square dancing. under the guidance of an expert caller, and hallroom danc-Ing were enjoyed hy everyone. Cider from an old oaken barrel and apples contained in a cornstalk-shrouded cart seemed to satisfy all those seeking refreshments. Une of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of a UNIUTOIIYS Delight to NValter Quinn and his date for heing chosen the most farmerly looking couple. Next on the schedule was the Fall Formal given in honor of the foothall team. Perhaps it might he said that never hefore had a group of Prepsters worked so long or so diligently in the preparation of this animal affair. Three sides of the gym were covered hv red and White strips of paper which had heen lahori- ously painted hy hand. On the remaining wall, huge ten-foot murals of foothall players. drawn hy Ilerh Beaujou, gazed down upon the elegantly dressed couples as thev glided ahont under the streamer-decked ceiling. The hand. situated hehin'd a white goal post, sent forth strains of sweet music which completed the transformation of the Prep gym into a gay nightcluh that might have heen called The Gridiron . To those Prepsters who spent long days and nights decorating the gym, it was a night of triumph. One of the outstanding events of the social season was the Foothall Banquet given to the team after the completion of their verv successful season. Invitations were extended to every meniher of the team and his father. The affair had a yerv friendly atmosphere with everyone assmhling hefore and after dinner in the eonnnons room of the Beta llouse. Here, fathers were ahle to meet faculty mem- hers and other memhers of the team and their fathers. As soon as the' dining room had heen rearranged after dinner. the guests reassemhld for the presenta- tion of the athletic letters to the memhers of the team. At this time short speeches were given hv Mr. Shepard. Mr. Ilolley, Mr. Ilousman, and hy the guest speaker. the lieverend Mr. Dunne. The social season was concluded hv a Soring Formal given hy the Alunior class in honor of the outgoing Seniors.
