There are always many people who have contributed to the quality of the students' education, and the list grows longer every year. There are two people whose dedication, both to teaching and to the students, has been paramount. Good teachers are rare, inspiring role models rarer still. The class of 1976 gratefully dedicates the yearbook to two such inspiring role models- Dr. Joanne T. Medlinsky, Asst. Professor of Medicine and Asst. Dean for Student Affairs, and Dr. Henry B. Murphree, Professor of Psychiatry and Pharmacology. . , -jr, I Av .-F ' HUNTERDGN MEDICAL CENTER 4 ,593- -.Z 'QW . KW., - --47 X MUHLENBERG HOSPITAL 4-if i. MIDDLESEX GENERAL HGSPITAL ST. Goethe, 1801 After he had journeyed, . . A. And his feet were sore, A ' He came upon an orange grove And he rested. And he lay in the cool, And while he rested, he took to himself an orange and tasted it, And it was good. And he saw magnificent perfection, Whereon he thought of himself in balance, And he knew he was. Just open your eyes, And realize, the way it's always been. EDMUND MICHAEL I was born in San Fernando, Trinioad in 1945, and have always been fascinated by the different aspects of medical practice. However, out of all the different fields of medicine, I am most attracted to Family Practice, in which l plan to do a residency. I believe that medicine has enormous potential to draw the peoples of the world together, since all people, whether they be black, white, or yellow, whether they be Communist or cap- italistic, whether they be Arab or Jew, have the potential of becoming seriously ill and thus requiring medical attention. To me, it is very distressing to observe the inequities between rich and poor, between developed and under-developed nations, and I sincerely believe, perhaps somewhat idealistically, that the true physician, in his capacity of being a healer of body and soul has the enormous potential of contributing his share in helping to promote goodwill and friendship between all men that this world would eventually become a much better place for our children to come to live in. 5-.L , ax . .l a.-gale-'-h i s 'Ja - JAMES MILMAN And the little prince went back to meet the fox. This achieve- ment would never have been accomplished without the continuous support, reassurance and patience from the Brothers and Sisters of Brooklyn College, my family: mother, father, brothers 141, sisters t6l, and particularly, my wife and daughter: Maria-Eliza, and Kinshasa. Throughout my life, l've been constantly advised by white teachers and counselors, that medicine was an impossible vocation for me, and I should concentrate my efforts on music or art. This style of inept counseling just proved to lend itself only to strengthen my desire and develop my confidence to become a physician. ati' GEORGE ROENNING .ln-5 ...I Orientation . . .early mornings and late nights. . . lunchtime football and softball. . . Charles DuBois It was with this spirit that Pat and I decided that I would leave my job and go to medical school, if I could get in. I was fortunate to find in Rutgers a school that was willing to take a chance, for which I will always be grateful. These four years have flown by, although the days went slowly. We're nearing the end, Pat, don't panic. I remember what our sons Ira and Steven look like, although after a year of internship I hope they'II remem- ber me. Maybe now the boys will stop asking me what l'm going to be when I grow up. I wish my mother had lived to see me graduate, she would have been so proud. Farewell, Rutgers. Show wisdom.
