CETA employee Magdalene Jones delivers ser- vice with a smile to hungry after-schoolers Ruby Anderson and Kenda Millner. Blown around by a blustery October wind, Kathy Ballagh and Rhonda Angel help complete the junior flo at before the Homecoming parade. Instead of going home That 2:50 bell didn’t mean the end of the school day for many students anymore than did the buzzing of the alarm in the morning mean everyone jumped right out of bed. Many students spent their after- school hours in practice, in club meetings, or in study for class projects. These people spent a little extra time helping out their class or enjoying them- selves in sports or school productions. Often those long after-school hours got in the way of a student’s homework or duties at home. Grades and chores may have suffered while someone played basketball or practiced for the spring musical, or stayed after school for a French club eat-in, but those hours devoted to extracurricular activities were just as important to those involved as other aspects of school. Not everyone really was aware of the amount of time that went into the building of a team; not just a group of students playing basketball, football or running track, but a team where the goals and the drive of each of the players was the same.
