The S,C.A. exists for all; the students, the school, the community, and the nati on; but the primary concern of the S.C. A, is the students, The S.C.A. strives to promote a good relationship between the stu- dents and the faculty and to train students in leadership. The Student Council is composed of representatives of each homeroom and the officers. This group works closely with the administration. The S.C, A. sponsors many worthwhile pro- jects throughout the year. During the fall the S.C.A, givea a Student-Teacher Reception for all new students and teachers and also sponsors Homecoming Activities. At Christmas the S.C.A. sponsors the annual Christmas assemblies, decorates the school, and gives homeroom parties. This year our S,C,A, has worked with the P,T,A, through sponsoring a booth in the bazaar. The S,C,A.'s most gratifying achieve- ment this year has been the formulation of a Sportsmanship Code which was adopted district wide. Also the §,C,A,. sponsored a candy drive for the purpose of raising money for the pur- chase of additional band uniforms. Over a two-year span the band has almost tripled in size. Added attractions to the band in recent months include majorettes and a color guard. The band is rapidly gaining popularity both in Rustburg and in the surrounding communities. The experience gained by the band students has proved to be quite valuable in their current activities. The band has been featured in the Friends of the Campbell County Library Dedication Parade, the Miss Appomattox Parade, the Lynchburg and Altavista “Christmas Parades, and in Spring and Christmas concerts. The band also plays in some assemblies and at pep rallies and football games, of course! The band's biggest engagement is to be held in Vinton, Virginia, on April 27, 1968, when it will be featured in the Dogwood Festival Parade. The band receives most of its financial support from the Band Boosters Club with much assistance from the faculty and students. 15 GLEE CLUB President - Becky Poplin Vice President - Barbara Mitchell Secretary - Sharon Houston Treasurer - Betty Jamerson Reporte r - Barbara Metz Advisor - Mr. Forbes Winy the President - Casey Carden Vice President - Richard Shelton Secretary - Kay Dawson Treasurer - Bruce Carey Advisor - Mrs, Greene 116 lementary ELEMENTARY S.C.A.
