Many of the s-ixty students who composed this class were transferred from Brookville, and Clyde Smith was chosen as our President. During the fi r s t two years there were many activities which our class took part in, and probably one of the most interesting was the beginning of a basketball team on the indoor court. Many of the class also took part in baseball and softball, Forensics, Model General Assemblies and the two s chool publications. Judy Dodson was the President of our class during this memorable second year. 8 Maude Tweedy Bailey Route Two Rustburg, Virginia William Baxter Baker 3207 Maryland Avenue Lynchburg, Virginia Neta Louise Bradley Route Two, Box 232 Lynchburg, Virginia David Griffin Brown Route Two Gladys, Virginia Constance Diana Coffey Route Three, Box 166 Lynchburg, Virginia Preston Eugene Cyrus 251 Craig Street Lynchburg, Virginia William Thomas Cyrus 17 Green Street Lynchburg, Virginia Judith Ann Dodson Route Two, Box 235 Lynchburg, Virginia ,fuk ., V51 W Er rf-04 ,. x f , M' ' is any fit' up-.dp f , l amp, .. aw 'V , Y ,...l . of Y Q H i 'Qian- , 'f..f,gggff' ll f was f ' 9 524' . 515' ' gif ' 731' fi-'35 4,4 . Then the hu s tle and bustle of getting ready to present our play, Just Ducky, with everyone pitching in to make it a success. The last big event of the year was our entertaining of the Seniors with a Prom and midnight snack. Several of our class members we re on the basketball teams, baseball team, Forensics, and other activities of the school. We entertained the Juniors with the now traditional Ring-Dance, and later in the spring the class went to Washington for a long week-end of fun and sight-seeing. As the year drew to a close, the Juniors feted us with a dinner dance, which was a wonderful entertaizunent. The big event of the fall was a trip to Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. We visited numerous historic points in that locality, attended the production at the new Information Center, and also attended The Founders. Once again our class is well represented on the basketball teams and on the baseball team. Several of our members also took part in Forensic contests in the District. The Annual and Newspaper Staffs are composed of a number of Juniors, and the usual clubs and organizations have their share also. The Seniors entertained with a beautiful Ring Dance, and then before we knew it, we were practicing for our play. A Man Called Peter was the dramatic production this year, and the next big event in our lives was the entertaining of the Seniors and their guests at Holiday Inn. We have had a full year of fun and projects, and now we look forward to our last year in high school. 16 Shirley Ayers Duane Beasley Joan Brooks Charles Burnette Phyllis Carwile Janice Coleman '? 4v in-nv 5 . fl fx 'FV w-aw-ff f LY- . Members of our class have played on both basketball teams, Junior Varsity basketball, and on the baseball teams both years. Several of the girls have served as cheerleaders, and this year's girls' team made a fine showing by entering the basketball tournament. Anumber of our class members have made a real contribution in the literary field. Several have taken part in one-act plays during the last two yearsg essay contests have been enteredg various other phases of Forensic activities have been represented by this iclass, and they have consistently made unusually good records for themselves and for the school. It has been a real pleasure to know the Lynchburg students who have been in our school, and it is with a note of sadness that we must bid them goodbye this year. We wish for them an opportunity to continue to be of service in their new location. We participated in basketball and cheerleading. We also took part in important clubs of the school such as Tri-Hi-Y, Hi-Y, F.T.A., Newspaper and Annual Staffs. During the year we conducted many projects: the most successful was a basketball game between the women of the faculty and the freshman girls. We also had a delightful party at the American Legion Hall during the Easter Holiday.
