FRESHMAN CLASS OFFICERS Clyde Smith Linda Thurston Patsy Elliott Lawana Arrowood Dorothy Harrell President »ec,-lreas, V.-President Reporter Historian Mrs, Hunter, Mrs. Minnick, Advisers FRESHMAN CLASS HISTORY In September of nineteen hundred fifty-three, eighth graders of both Rustburg and Brook- ville High Schools were entering anew year of excitement, pleasure and work, Along with our work, those of us here at Rustburg enjoyed several parties and a trip to the airport during the year, How we did look forward to becoming the first Freshmen in the new high school! That anticipation was probably more realistic to us, since we were right next door to all the activity surrounding the construction of the new building, and we were beginning to be a little curious, too, of what to expect from our new classmates who would be coming in from the Brookville school, Would we be a house divided, or would the experience make for a stronger system of education, and prepare us better for working with our fellow men after graduation? Then came the big day for which we had waited all summer, The doors of the new school at Rustburg were opened to receive the largest Freshman Class in its history, With joyful shouts we were back to greet a new school year with much enthusiasm--to renew old friend - ships and to begin work in a brand new building with interiors decorated as tastefully as our homes. Who could help but be happy at school with such wonderful surroundings ? In a few days we had learned the new faces in our class, and found that the Rustburg stu-
