CLASS PROPHECY I slowly walked through the foggy streets of London. My flight across the Atlantic had just been grounded. Alone and four thousand miles from home was just too much, I thought. The fog had gotten thicker and, after walking several blocks, I was thoroughly chilled. Seeing the lights of a cafe near by, I decided to stop for a cup of tea. I was sitting there thinking about home, when suddenly it dawned upon me---ten years ago I was a senior at Rustburg High. ‘ ‘Wonder what my ole classmates are doing?’’, I asked myself. Just then, a voice over my shoulder said, ‘‘Read your tea leaves, dearie? I can tell you anything you want to know.’’ ‘‘Tell me what my classmates at R.H.S. are doing now.’’ Then she began: Rosa Goff-living on farm at Concord. Learned to milk. Gladys Lindsay-following husband to Texas who is now general. Betty Jean Taylor-cute apartment over Ben Maynard. Finally married the lucky one. Toby Harris-now exploring James River in her newly acquired yacht. Nell Smith-Buck and I still going strong. Gary Cheatham-now a major in U.S. Air Force. Buster Williams-passed trooper exam. Will be married soon. Jimmy Thompson-running for governor. Wish me luck. Peggy Jennings-found the right one. Still a Cardinal fan. Lois Lee-secretary to mayor of Rustburg. Still town’s No. 1 man-hater. Jeanette Puckette-teaching first grade at Rustburg High School. Annie Cyrus-still catting around. Alice Moore-joined the WAF. Still flying high. Betty Riley-Powers model. Pictures featured in Mademoiselle. Grey Simmons-chief typist for Lynchburg News. June Talley-written three books. Best seller-‘‘The Perfect Male’’. Alease Wright-now living in Tennessee. Featured on the ‘‘Grand Ole Opery.’’ Marie Tanner-teaching at R.H.S. as an old maid teacher, after being jilted at the altar, Elizabeth Tanner-dietitian at Waldorf Astoria in New York. Elizabeth Elliot-teaching Home Ec. at new R.H.S. Harry Farris-testing jets at Air Force base in Texas. C.B. Moore-designer of cars in Detroit factory. Edward Trent-owner of Falling River Estate at Gladys, Va. Calvin Adkins-sound effects man at MGM Studios. Billy Lawrence-owner of Lawrence Lawrence Contractors. Harry Mitchell-owner of large farm in Kentucky. Experimenting with new kind of tobacco. After sne had finished I sat all alone, still thinking about my old class- mates. It seemed that each of them had fulfilled his high school ambitions.

JUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS Mary Droog Secretary ‘Rosalie Gear Gladys Long Vice-President President Junior Class History Buzz! Buzz! Buzz! The noise grew louder as thirty-four excited ‘‘bees’’ hummed into their hive on September 4, 1950. We were glad to have Mr. Thomas as home room teacher. Our president this year was ° Estelle Leonard. Our colors were blue and white, our flower was the red rose and our motto was ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”’ Connie Edelestein and Nancy Wheeler represented our room in May Court. In the fall of °51 we entered the Sophomore room with Mr. Garbee as homeroom teacher and Barbara Tanner as president. Representatives in the May Court were Mary Ellen Droog and Estelle Leonard. In the fall of °52 we came back to R.H.S. as Juniors. Mr. Garbee was again our homeroom teacher and Gladys Long is president. We are looking forward to becoming Seniors.
