In the fall of ’49, thirty-seven noisy Freshmen ran up the steps to their first year in high school. Under the guidance of our homeroom teacher, Mr. Hancock, and Jimmy Thomp- son, our class president, we chose the gardenia as our class flower, maroon and white, our class colors and ‘‘Deeds not Dreams’’ as our motto. High spots of this year were: Farm Show, May Day, Christmas program and a few freshmen went on the trip to Wash- ington. June came none too soon and we were all ready for our vacation. September 4, 1951 found thirty-one happy-go-lucky Sophomores at R.H.S. Mrs. Annie Gay Martin was our homeroom teacher and Carol Phillips was elected our class president. Highlights of this year: the Farm Show, Christmas program, May Day and the dance after- wards, F.H.A. and F.F.A. Banquets. June came again and we happily left R.H.S. for another vacation.

September found us back again at R.H.S. as upperclassmen..... Jin OS ene. with Mrs. Mary Hunter, our homeroom teacher and Marie Tanner our class president. We shall never forget some of the activities of this -- our junior year in high school. A few of them are: Parties given by our room mother, the appointing of Jimmy Thompson as a Page with General Assembly, the Christmas program, the junior play, getting our class rings, May Day and dance, and at last -- the Junior-Senior Banquet and carrying of the Daisy Chain for the Seniors. Though we enjoyed this we also enjoyed the coming of June and the glorious vacation that lay ahead of us. On September 1, 1952 twenty-seven dignified Seniors were found in Room 12 at R.H.S. Our Sponsor this year was not new to us. We were happy to have with us again this year Mrs. Martin, our Sophomore sponsor. Carol Phillips was elected as our class president. OH, What memories we have of this year in school! Never forgotten memories of our last year at ole R.H.S.! Some were: Senior play, ‘‘You’ll Die Laughing’’, Junior-Senior En- tertainment, Senior Day, May Day and the dance afterwards, Christmas program, Christmas formal, F.H.A. and F.F.A. Banquet and the publishing of ‘‘The Owl’’. Graduation came and we were glad to get the diploma we had worked eleven years for, but we hated to leave our dear old friends at R.H.S.
