Tramp! The noise grew louder as thirty-seven Freshmen ran up the steps to their first year of High School. We thought we were really something, pity the teachers didn’t too. Our home-room teacher was Mr. Hancock, and our class president Jimmy Thompson, We chose for our motto, ‘‘Deeds not Dreams’ ®, Our class colors were maroon and white, and our class flower, the gardenia, Alice Moore and Betty Jean Taylor were elected to the May Court, and our year closed with our having gained Toby Harris and lost four other members, In the fall of 50 thirty-one pupils entered the Sophomore room with Mrs, Martin as home-room teacher and Carol Phillips as class president, Carol Phillips and Alice Moore were our May Court representatives, September 1951 saw us back at R.H.S. as Juniors with Mrs, Mary Hunter our home- room teacher, and Marie Tanner as class president. Some of the highlights of this year were: our Halloween class party, given by our home-room mothers, Mrs, Fariss and Mrs, Elliott; the appointing of Jimmy Thompson as page to the General Assembly; the election of Peggy Jennings as Maid-of-Honor and Alice Moore and Toby Harris to the May Court. We ended the year happily and are looking to our last year as Seniors,
