On September 6, 1948, thirty boys and girls piled into the freshman room to begin four years of high school culture with Miss Edie Gannaway as our class sponsor, We chose our President, Mildred Lindsay. With ‘‘cooperation is the key to progress’’ as our motto and the Lily of the Valley as our flower, and green and white our colors, we were really enter - ing into high school life. This year we had our school paper, Farm Show, May Day, and several freshmen went on the trip to Washington, When June came it was time for our sum- mer vacation and much to our sorrow there were eight members missing from our class, September found twenty-two pupils in the sophomore room with Mrs, Annie Gay Mar- tin as our homeroom teacher, Danny Wooldridge was elected President, Again there was the trip to Washington, May Day, Farm Show, F,H.A. and F,F.A. banquets and the Christ- mas program, June was here again but suddenly our wonderful vacation had ended,
