In Agt II the dramatic action was greatly ro- tarded because the class was never organized as Sophomoros. As one oftcn docs I became anxious y for the climax. In Act III the real théme bocame evident a- gain as the players organized thomsclves into a y Junior class. As part of our duties on board we are called upon to help with Literary Society, S.C.A.e, and Student Government Association. One of our mem — bers, Lois Floyd is secretary of S.C.A., and another member, Sonny Merryman, is vice-president of the Literary Society. We have football, soft ball and baseball for recreation. Miss Evans was head gardener, and under her care some of the plants showed definite heen of leadcne . ships Dennis Riddle was chosen to preside over the garden, with Anne rkevia baa as ae helper, and Pete Burnette to guard the casurc The garden, after a year of growth, is now the Sophomore class of Rustburg High School, with another shoot, Helen Wingficld, making forty-two plants. We chose new lcaders this ycar with the same leaves of quality, loadorship, and diplomacy that our former leaders posscssede Clifton Phillips was: choscn presidents; Donnis Riddle, vico-pres- ident; and Gladys Twocdy, socrctary and treasurcr. Every boy and girl is expected to participate in some form of athletics at each recreation period. This participation is carricd out through planned programs o phevrolicwing sports are offered: volley ball, baseball, football, softball, marble tournaments, and training in track events. Volley ball and marble tournaments are inter- mural sports, while football, baseball, softball, and track are intorscholastic.
