1-4 f4 T R U S SELLVL L l 954 -5 5 M. EBERHART, PRESIDENT AUGUSTA RAITHEL, SECRETARY Office of Board of Educalion COLE COUNTY DIST. R-l SCHOOLS J. G. EDWARDS, SUPERINTENDENT RUSSELLVILLE, MISSOURI To the Students, Faculty, and Patrons of the Russellville, R-l Schools, The function of any school in any community is to make the community better. We feel that the activities, presented by the students of our schools in this year's THE WAR WHOOP, are most certainly an indication that we are str iving to make the Russell'ville community better. In the past, people have thought of the work of the schools as having to do largely with Hbook learning . We know this phase of school is important. We also know that the modern student must live in a world which has a great range of demands to make:--physical. moral, social, and political. The general training which is the basis of our curriculum undertakes to meet these demands along with many extra-curricular ac tivities which give the student a well-rounded school life I want to thank the members of the student body, faculty, and citizens of the community for the splendid Cooperation and backing they have given the Russellville Schools this year. The Chal- lenge of the world of tomorrow is ever with us. The Russellville community of tomorrow is a challenge to our students today. The encouragement of every parent, teacher, and patron will help to bring joy, contentment, and seCurity to our community. Yours for continued advancement, W Super intendent of Schools MRS. JOYCE BONHAM School Secretary JOSEPH G. EDWARDS Super intende nt PROGRESS: This school is a symbol--a symbol of the progress we are making in Missouri. CHARACTER: Character is the sum total of one's environment. Hear this and then tuck it away in your mind for ready reference: In the soil of EXPE RIENCE, with the fertilizer of EXAMPLE, the moisture of DESIRE, and the sunlight of SATISFACTION, CHARAC TER grows. To the building of character, as a symbol of progress and an instrument for developing the human body and brain, this school is respectfully and solemnly dedicated . Dr. E. M. Eberhart, President Mr. Everett Dawson, Member Mr.'Roy Enloe. Vice-President Mr. Ralph Scheperle, Member Mr. Clyde Robertson, Member Mr. Frank Seaver, Member Miss Augusta Raithel, Secretary Mr. Joseph G. Edwards, Superintendent Philosophy and Objectives Democratic education is necessary to prepare, preserve, and improve democracy as a way of life: WE STRIVE: To offer a breadth of school program on all levels which will care for the individual needs interests, desires, and abilities of all students. AND: To offer a quality of instruction which will insure speedy and efficient learning on the part of all students. ALSO: To offer a program of guidance and direction that will enable each student to take the great- est advantage of the part of the school program best suited to him.
