Mathematicians —Every One I Triangles — similar and congruent. There ' s got to be a way to prove it, think Cathy and Larry. Mathematics courses are required in grades one through eight with one course required in high school. Four years of mathematics may be acquired in high school if a beginning is made as a freshman, and sufficient interest is main- tained. These courses include two years of al- gebra, geometry, and advanced mathematics and are taught by Mrs. Hazlett. New math was introduced last year through the adoption of new textbooks, and it places a greater emphasis on the basic theory behind the laws of mathematics. Algebra is easy--sometimes! L. to R. — Nancy, Brenda, Gene, and Mike Linda tells them how it ' s done.

Typing II with Linda Sue The commerce department offers five elective subjects under the instruction of Mr. Gary Morton. The general business students get an over-all picture of the business world while the bookkeeping class learns to balance the books and keep accurate records. In typing I students are taught only the basic principles, such as knowing the various parts of the typewriter and how to use them. In typing II, they practice tabulation problems, business letters, invoices, purchase orders, bills of lading, and timed writings for speed and accuracy. Last, but not least, is shorthand. The girls in this class learn the many brief forms and principles of shorthand in the first semester; in the second semester, they begin increas- ing their dictation skills in speed and accuracy. The Shorthand girls transcribe again. Business World General business class listens. Bookkeepers of the future. Typing I-- class of errors .

General science is now a required subject in grades five, six, seven, eight, and nine. Students also have the privilege of electing to study biology, chemistry, and physics. New text books in science and health have been adopted this year, making the science curriculum serve the needs of today. Mrs. Hazlett and Mrs. Mc- Gaughey are in charge of the physical science and general science, respectively, while Mr. Sheese teaches health and biology. ' Efficiency over 100%, as usual!
