STORY four year average of 98.75. On behalf of Mr. R.E. Stephenson for the outstanding contributions he made to the Youth of Russellville, the Optimist Club of Russellville, Kentucky, proudly awarded a scholarship in the amount of $100 to the Salutatorian Sarah Kondracki The NAACP presented an academic scholarship in the amount of $300 to Shelia Marable, daughter of Birdie Marable. The Marie Turner Science Scholarship, given in honor of Mrs. Turner who taught biology at RHS for many years, is sponsored annually by the Logan County Medical Society. This year it was a tie in the selection of the winner. Both students have exhibited much skill and interest in the practical aspects of science. The amount of $125 went to Page Estes, dughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Estes anc $125 went to Sarah Kondracki, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kondracki, Jr. The Joe Emberger Memorial Scholarship is given in memory of Jeseph H. Emberger. Mr. Emberger was very active locally in education as well as President of the local WKU Alumni Club. The $200 scholarship goes to the student with the highest average who will attend Western. This year it was received by Sonya Stephenson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Stephenson. The Leona Carrice Opti—Mrs. Award is presented by the Opti—Mrs. Club of Russellville. The scholarship for $100 was presented to Samera Zavaro, daughter of Michel and Emily Zavaro. In 1974, the Kelly Russell Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the Russellville Optimist Club in memory of a former student of Russellville High School who an outstanding young man and an exceptional athlete at Russellville High School. These scholarships are in the amount of $100 each and are based on athletic achievement, academic achievement and character. This year the Russellville Optimist Club proudly presented the female athlete award to Cynthia Dilliha, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Dilliha, anc the male athlete award to Todd Harkleroad, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rondal Harkleroad. Cynthia also was the recipient of the Ray A Kroc Youth Achievement Award. This award is presented to a student who has demonstrated community involvement, leadership scholarship, and has set a good example in extracurricular activities. The Russellville Junior Homemakers Club gave a scholarship in the amount of $100 for the freshman year to Samero Zavaro daughter of Michel and Emily Zavaro. Two are presented by Citizens' National Bank in honor of H.O. Price. They go to outstanding 4 year students in band and chorus The band award was presented tojudith Schiess, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schiess and the choral award to Ann Gill, daughter o Mr. and Mrs. David Gill. The Hazel Carver Vocal Music Scholarship was established to mark the retirement of Mrs. Carver after teaching music in th Russellville Schools. Its aim is to encourage and stimulate the growth of vocal music at RHS, and to achieve that goal, it was decider to select a gifted junior who has already demonstrated proficiency in music and to send the student to summer vocal music camp. Th student would then participate in the vocal music program the following year. This year the award was presented to Rachel Tharpe daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Tharpe.
