BASKETBALL HOMECOMING Basketball Homecoming was interrupted this year by a large snowfall which caused cancellation of school for two days. Black and Gold and Crazy Hat Day were held one day, but there was not enough time to decorate the halls. RHS won the homecoming game against Todd Central. Donna Kennedy was crowned Homecoming Queen at halftime. A candidate from each class was chosen for the Homecoming Court. This year’s court consisted of Freshman, Carrie Atkinson, Sophomore, Sandy Strickland; Junior, Mary Jett Roemele; and Senior Donna Kennedy. The Pep Club candidates were Vonda Beasley, Pat Croslin, and Sha Cross.

Christmas in Russellville welcomed a celebration from the past as the Advanced Chorus and the de Graffenried Chorale combined forces for a presentation of a 16th century Madrigal Dinner. MADRIGAL DINNER Students served as the musical minstrels, singing traditional carols of the season and attending to the service of the patrons’ tables. The three course meal complete with wassail bowl and Christmas pudding, was prepared by the RHS Food Service classes. The Chorale served as the Royal Court for the evening, with Frank Walton, Chorale President, serving as king of the castle. Following a jovial dialogue with the court jester, Tim Menser, the Chorale presented a concert of music, with some of the carols performed in the medieval style. The two performances were sold out weeks in advance. Public response was overwhelmingly positive and requests for repeat performances next year have given rise to the possibility of a new Christmas tradition in Russellville. 15
