There were those times of strug- gle when hard work turned into all play. 2. As pic- tured here, they enjoyed participating in over alls day during Homecoming week. The majority of the week was spent goofing off and posing for pictures. 3. Then time came for the sale of yearbooks, when fellow class members kept business manager, Mark Mai, on the move. Students eagerly purchased re- cordings of the '76 seasons. 4. Frowning, are the dis- couraged photographers of the school paper and year- book. The boys aren't actually always sad, and did a super job for their fellow students. 5. Cheryl Norris and Susie Schlageck (STANDING), served as the Pony Express editor and assistant editor, respectively. The girls at the desk are working hard to lay out the first issue of the Pony Express. It only took the class about 140 minutes! 6. Stunned by the work ahead of them, Mark, Mark B. and Mitch served as the chief trouble- makers of the class. 7. Last, but certainly not least, poses the great worthy advisor, Elizabeth Taylor, (alias Patty Strecker). She was a great help to the students and it was deeply appreciated. Students in the '76 Journalism class were: Cheryl Norris, Susie Schlageck, Judy Frazier, Cristi Bruner, Mark G. Mai, Mitch Dougherty, Lisa Hunsley, Pam Rowe, Tom Hopper, Shelley Sutton, Mario Gutierrez, Ernie Gustason, Debbie Mitchell, Mark Blehm. It Happened In Russell Airs Interesting Shows It Happened In Russell ... This year Russell High con- tinued a Television class that officially began the second semester of the 1974-75 school year. Credit was given to those who participated. Four Seniors: Judy Frazier, Ernie Gustason, Diane Woelk (1st semester) and Alica Johnson (2nd semester) created shows through the use of Video Tape equipment. The superivsor for the first semester was Mr. Han eke and Mr. Crenshaw took over his responsibilities at the be- ginning of the second semester. Dan Hudson, Cable TV technician and the students showed each production on Channel 5, Sunday evenings at 6:30 p.m. It Happened In Russell's purpose was to let the citi- zens of Russell become more aware of what happenes in the community. Some highlighting shows produced were: an introduc- tion of all the administration of Russell High School and the courses offered to RHS students, interviews with RHS coaches, a talk with members of the Russell Arts Council, a tour of the Cathedral of the Plains, a Christmas program, Bicentennial programs of many of the students of Bicker- dyke and Simpson Grade Schools, and many more! Freshmen Sliding Schedules, Mini Courses and Driver's Ed. are a few of the things that the Freshmen Class encountered as they completed their first year of High School. The Class got a small sample of what is in store for them in the next three years of their life at RHS. Leading this courageous group of young adults were class officers: Ra- mona Rohr, President; Clay Stewart, Vice-President; and Julie Jepsen, Secretary-Treasurer. The Freshmen were quite effecient in their endeavors. They managed to make it to the Welcome Freshmen dance, finish a float for Homecoming and add a little sparkle to the lives of the upperclassmen. All in all, the Freshmen had a great year and are looking forward to an even better year next year as Soph's. The Sophomores realy proved to be a class that will be strong in their next two years in high school. Dissecting frogs and worms was, as usual, the fav- orite activity of many of these hard working students. Their great effort in the magazines sales their Sophomore year insured a good prom themed, The Times of Your Life. President Cecilia Shumaker, Vice-President Sam Farmer, and Secretary, Connie Chegwidden led the Jun- iors to this success. They have been through much, but must prepare themselve? to return as the Senior class of 77. Seniors '76' went through the regular ordeal of order- ing caps and gowns, name cards and announcements. An- other experience shared by all Seniors was that of sitting in front of a camera posing for their Senior pictures. This year the Senior class received the award for best entry in the Homecoming parade. The float was by far the best float ever seen in any RHS Homecoming parade. October 23, is an evening that few Seniors will forget as they did an unusual job at the traditional senior white wash. The Senior class had many successful accomplishments and it is only fair to say that they made the 1975-76 school year an enjoyable one for everyone. Leading the Senior class through their final season at RHS were President, Mario Gutierrez; Vice-President, Mark G Mai; and Secretary-Treasurer, Kathy Saryerwin- nie. 114 JOHN FIANDA] CHRISTIANS WESLEY COFFEEN KEVIN CABLE JENNIFER MARIE DUMLER .
