Also, through the various charitable activities of the club, Kays is an organization to help foster better morals and citizenship for its members. During the school year, the Kays have tried to achieve the maximum recognition which can be achieved through the state-wide organization. This includes outstanding efforts in all the service areas above mentioned. Under the guidance of their sponsors, Austin Covalt and Gary Dinkel, the Kays have tried to accomplish their goals and make their organization a positive influence in the life of their members, their community, and their school. Several members from the club attended the annual Kay-Kayette Regional Confer- ence. Balanced Program Is Kayette Pride Through the combination of well-balanced programs, lively recreational events, and var- ious service projects, the Russell Kayettes had another busy and meaningful year. The group of more than two hundred girls was divided into nine families with each family being in charge of specified events. The girls were active in school projects such as dusting the bleachers for football games, decorating the school for Christmas, sponsoring two all-school assemblies, and presenting the Easter program. The community of Russell was benefited when the Kayettes adopted a local needy family, read at the children's library, and made holiday favors for the rest; home and hospital. World service projects included mailing gifts to servicemen in Viet Nam and collecting old clothes to be sent abroad. Again this year the Kayettes were working toward their 3000 point award.
