He was like a daddy to us. He was always there when you needed him. . . . different members 70f the varsity football team. He is usually cheerful and has a good word for you . . . a student; He has tremendous responsibilities and has continued to do an outstanding job for the school. The annual staff proudly dedicates the 1985-86 Pointer to Coach Benjamin Dukes. Coach Benny Dukes was raised in Zebulon, GA where he graduated from Pike County High School. During his secondary years at Pike County High School, he participated in all varsity sports except track. He received a full basketball scholarship to Berry College where he earned his Bachelor's Degree. He attended graduate school at the University of Georgia. He now holds a Lifetime Teaching Certificate in Health, Physical Education, and Driver's Education. He has taught in Pike County, Cobb County, and has taught at Russell High for five years. While at Russell, he has been the defensive coordinator for the football team; the head 8th grade basketball coach; head junior varsity basketball coach. He is currently the Athletic Coordinator, head varsity football coach, and head J.V. basketball coach. It is an interesting note that one of teams went two years without a defeat. '
